killing off lucy, and also how good could have michael been if he hadn't left before dtc's era? he was hilarious, dark and twisted with some great one liners, but he just wasn't given enough stories he deserved better.

Introducing another member to the carter's in lee so quickly and making Sam strike feel like he wasn't needed DTC has said himself in an interview he was gutted when Sam said he wanted to leave a character who was based on himself im sure looking back he wish's he done thing's different then maybe Sam Strike wouldn't have quit.

Killing Lucy. Surely even he must see now that it was a total fail.

I don't think he regrets anything. He's absolutely delusional!

I don't see the problem with the Lucy storyline it did the job of creating the buzz, had she still of been alive ppl on here would be moaning she had a) been ruined or b) was being criminally underused

The rapist storyline I do have a problem as there all going round in circles and I don't see an end to it, especially mick and Shirley, one minute there patching things up next they don't want anything more to do with each other it's been going on months

Dean the rapist - I think the idea behind it was a good one and it could have worked brilliantly if, for whatever reason, they hadn't decided that the end result had to keep Dean on the square and Linda without justice whilst being verbally attacked by someone close to him every other day.

Euthanasia plot - I think if he's honest with himself that was one plot too many for the Carters at that time.

Maybe the fire? Idk if that went down as well as it could've done.

creating the Carters to be based around Shirley
Making Mick Shirley's son
Bringing Deano back
The rape
Bobby killing Lucy (not that Bobby was the killer but all the press that it was one of 16 when it wasn't).
Charlie and Roxy together

Ones he should regret:

The fire...what sort of insurance payout did they think Alfie would get for a load of old tat.

Shirley/Sharon/Phil 'love' triangle....out of the blue Shirley suddenly pines for Phil, only to go back to her first love within days.

Throwing a pregnancy/abortion into the rape s/l and the badly written euthanasia s/l, that frankly wasn't needed.

Hopefully:
Carter dominance
Mick being Shirley's son
Alfie starting the fire
Killing Lucy and losing Peter- though the storyline was my favourite in years
Not getting anyone back for Jim's funeral

Yeah the big anniversary plot that had everyone talking, got loads of mainstream publicity and delivered the highest tv rating of the year was a total fail.

I reckon he regrets making Dean a rapist. You kind of tell with the way he's still trying to redeem him.

I'm not talking about ratings, I couldn't care less about that. It was shit. After the excellent death episode it was absolute rubbish. And it wasn't worth killing off an important character for.

Making Dean a rapist and not giving Sam Strike more of a storyline.

Probably forgetting about Johnny, I don't think he regrets the Charlie/Roxy thing as it is too soon. Johnny got pushed out and then Sam left so I think that probably bothers DTC the most.

Maybe killing Lucy, all in all I think it was quite pointless.

Definitely agree with all of your points.

I really liked the Carter's to begin with but the rape seems to have completely ruined them for me. The scenes were extremely powerful and Kellie did a brilliant job but I think it's just going round and round in circles now Mick being Shirley's son although very obvious could have worked, but again the rape story has ruined any chance of that for me. It's like the story was just a vehicle to make it more about Shirley picking a son rather than Linda's story and Dean's

I think this is probably the only thing he regrets, I doubt he regrets anything else as he seems quite happy with all his other storylines and creation. Lots of people in this thread seem to be using it as a way to state all the storylines they dislike, and somehow that means DTC must regret those storylines as well

Yeah, I reckon he's ok with how the other storylines particularly the rape one is going.
