Im really not feeling it. I feel like the episodes are repetitive week in week out!

The Dean storyline is a joke. It NEEDS to end now - its destroying every character involved more and more as the episodes go on

I feel the same. It feels a chore to watch the show for whatever reason. I can't put my finger on it. The Carter drama is consistent with the rest of the show at the moment - repetitive and boring.

There is a lot of repetition going on:
Phil and his boring feud with Max - I mean who really cares that Phil is in another feud for the 200th time? Nobody cares, I certainly don't. They need to do something new with Phil and start developing the character again. The feuds are just tedious now.
Charlie and Roxy - Another story of Roxy attempting to steal a man off her sister, the whole thing feels like the writers are making it up as they go along and contrived. Can't they do anything else with Ronnie and Roxy without a man getting in between them?
Kat and Alfie - Nothing needs to be said here that hasn't already been said about this couple.

I feel like I'm watching the same material regurgitated week after week. Simply put, none of the storylines in the show interest me at the moment and haven't done so for a while. Lucy's overblown storyline only interested me in the final week during anniversary week, where it was able to elevate its quality to a high standard. Then once the hype of the anniversary was over, it was back to the same old tripe. But lately in the last month or two, it's become a real chore for me.

I'm sorry but DTC IS OVERATTED!!!! He's trying to work of Ex executive Santer.

Because every single character is just going around in circles.

- Kat's miserable again.
- Linda's miserable again.
- Dean's in denial again.
- Shirley's sticking up for him again.
- Phil's angry again.
- Roxy's stealing men again.

This. Every major story has been going in circles for months.

The Dean story hasn't actually progressed AT ALL since Christmas. Dean is still denying it, Shirley is still defending him, Mick still wants Dean out of the Square. Why do they think it is entertaining to watch the same scenes repeated over and over again?

I think it has something to do with the rehashing of the same scenes, no story progression, block storytelling and pacing issues. Overegging has also meant that alot of stories have been sacrificed for others and so on.

We started out with some great storylines but they don't seem to be going anywhere and it is taking far too long to get to the point.

I agree that every major story is just going round and round in circles and not offering up anything new, we are basically just watching the same scenes over and over again, just in a different format but with the same conclusion as the week before, and the week before that...

This is the problem when so much effort goes into anniversary/live episodes and weeks - it feels like the quality nosedives once that's out of the way. The same thing happened in 2010. I was hoping that was just because Santer and DTC were leaving and the 25th anniversary was their swansong, and things would be different this time. But clearly not.

I have 4 weeks of EE on planner and feel no inclination to watch them at the moment. Neighbours and ED are more watchable for me right now.

agree it is a chore and you can easily miss scenes because you have already seen them play out before. I know all soaps do this but to me it seems they want to keep Mat Di Angelo longer than originally planned and this is dragging everything out.

and its not going away anytime soon when "poor Shirl" goes looking for her grand child.

I watched the BBC Three repeat last night because I couldn't be bothered at 7.30. I think I had ironing to do or wash the dishes. Something more interesting anyway.

This! I agree. I reckon the story has changed to keep Matt DA on. It should have ended in Feb when Shirley tried to send him away.

I agree, it has become a chore to watch. I tuned in last night for the first time in weeks, saw it was all about Dean again, switched off. I won't be tuning in for the rest of this week because of it.

If you are going to have characters dominate then at least make them interesting like the Slaters in 01-02, Watts in 85-88, 03-05, Mitchells in 90-94, 07-10, Stacey 06-10 era's

The Carters are even more boring than the Branning era and the Ferriera era - in fact bring the Ferriera's and the kidney plot back!!

IMO it's always been overrated anyway but not to worry it will clean up the British Soap Awards next month no doubt

it is boring, i hate to miss corrie more than eastenders and that is saying something.

agree. I will never be turned to the dark side and love Shirley. I've known the character for too long between 2006-2013 without a batter of an eyelid to her secret family she had stashed under the floor boards and is a nasty, selfish waste of space character that should have been axed long ago.

I don't think it's boring. This week's episodes have been very well-written.

You forgot to mention that everyone is shouting a lot - AGAIN.

I suppose I'm a bit of a troll as I don't watch EE now - I did, for 4-5 years after it started but then realised that after every episode, I felt miserable.

I said I wasn't going to post on here anymore but I just want to say this no all the episodes have been the week beginning the 23rd February was good imo also these episodes were good: 5th, 6th, 18, 19th, 23rd, 24th, 26th, 27th, 30th, 31st March, 2nd, 3rrd 9th, 10th, 17th and 20th April were really good episodes imo. I think the 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 17th March and 16th April were ok episodes nothing special but the boring episodes were imo 20th March, 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th April. I don't think the show is as bad as people are making it out to be I know there is going to be a wrongful arrest storyline but they had to wait until after the live episode because the cast member who's character will be arrested for Lucy's murder probably didn't know who killed Lucy then also all the episodes in March that we saw the cast like Adam Woodyatt, Laurie Brett, Jake Wood, Steve McFadden, Mimi Keene, Lorna Fitzgerald and Jake Wood were all probably preparing for live week then and remember Timothy West and Ben Hardy got one of those signed Albert Square signs on that day so the episodes now we are seeing were filmed just after live week so they probably wanted to let the cast who had a lot to do during live week a little rest because if Adam, Laurie, Mimi, Jake, Lorna and Steve were in all the March episodes and episodes at the start of April they would have been shattered by doing to much.

If you have a recycled storyline involving that immoral slapper Roxy who gets her leg over to any Tom, Dick & Harry in the square for the last god knows how many years now then you'll also suffer not just boredom but also severe regurgitating ad infinitum.

EastEnders hasn't been a delight to watch pretty much every episode since 2011, bar the odd bright patch etc... There's always at least one storyline or at least one character you hate and find annoying. I didn't find any character annoying pre 2010, I thought every character had a place on the show and the secondary characters were miles better than the ones of today. I was able to invest in the characters and therefore their storylines and I don't remember anything going round in circles. Simon Ashdown also used to nail every single big episode down to a T.

The cast is good these days, but it isn't used in the right way. Everyone is going round in circles and it's ridiculous. There's SO much that can be done with a character like Kat. Jessie Wallace is an outstanding actress and she deserves to play a leading role in the show, but no... Kat gets pissed 90% of the time and is horrible to pretty much everyone. WHAT A WASTE!

Also, what gripping storylines do we have these days?! Every storyline is miserable, depressing issue based stuff. Yes, EastEnders should always highlight important subjects, etc... But when fans say they want EastEnders to be gritty, I'm sure they don't mean 24/7 depressing misery. Scenes like Kim & Billy in last nights episode make me smile/laugh, and we need more of that, amongst all the misery. I want issue based storylines, but I want sensational/gripping storylines aswell, and that's what EastEnders lacks these days. John Yorke and Santer balanced issue led and sensationalism very well, it wasn't a documentary and it wasn't Hollyoaks, it was EastEnders.

Roxy isn't that bad at all. Her and Ronnie used to be a joy to watch, but this affair with Charlie isn't doing them any favours. Roxy & Charlie suit better than Ronnie & Charlie though... Lol, was there ever a more rushed relationship in soap?
