HO: Jeremy Sheffield is amazing.

A great actor, his scenes with Teresa last night when he was discussing his dad were moving. Pairing Patrick with Teresa is quite a good move too, making Teresa more likeable for the most part.
I'll be sorry to see Patrick eventually leave

When he isnt plotting, scheming, kidnapping and physically abusing people he can be a good character

Even when he is doing that he is good. He is well portrayed and at least he has a back story.

He is good and makes weaker actresses/weaker characters better as a result. Maxine developed a lot as a character and Theresa is a much better character with Patrick. It's hard to pull off the latter relationship but it sort of works.

Dont agree. There is no character development when he is doing the same thing over and over and over again. He always happens to be in the right place at the right time and seems to have almost Silas like powers to be able to plot against Maxine.

It was like groundhog day with the Abuse plot. At least with this new storyline there is a bit of a change in direction with Patrick though I would bet my house on him either comitting suicide or else Sienna killing him and framing Maxine.

I certainly can't see Hollyoaks bothering to follow motor neurone disease through to its conclusion, or anywhere near it.

You could say that about many storylines though.

My point is that we have had glimpses as to why he is like he is. He confessed to Maxine about how he was brought up. We know his relationship with his family was probably why he is like he is with his own family. I know they got a bit repetitive with the abuse thing but overall it was well done to start with.
I don't see Patrick as a bad guy, because he has layers. I like that we are seeing different sides to him now.

Its frustrating the writers thought for the longest amount of time that Patrick was at his best when he was plotting and manipulating when in fact recently he's actually become a lot more interesting now he's got a bit of sincerity about him. Not to mention his pairing with Theresa has been so unexpectedly brilliant for both characters!

He is a great actor and interesting character. I've said it many times but i only continue to watch Oaks for the Blakes. I think once Patrick leaves i will give up.

Yes but that's mostly the writing and he has no control over it. Whatever storyline he has had he's always performed well.

It's like they did with Grace and to an extent Robbie. Maybe HO are finally getting the message that it's boring to have every character as despicable sleazes and that it's refreshing to watch people being 'nice'.

I find Patrick much better as 'just the Headteacher & grandfather' really. It's a lot better than him constantly getting one over on Maxine.

I have found though Theresa is a lot more bearable in scenes with him.

And there is no denying Jeremy Sheffield is fab, shame Hollyoaks is letting him go, leaving us with the likes of

Hollyoaks has let him go? He's not leaving by choice? That's a shame. I think Hollyoaks went way too far with Patrick. They could have made a redemption story work better for him if they only had him do the abuse short term and we saw an actual process of him getting help and facing real consequences for his action. However, this is Hollyoaks so of course we don't get that and it's just the same repetitive crap.

To be honest the incest was the last straw for believability and Sienna's chasing after Dodger. It's hard to bring any realism to a character when that is your plotline (I feel sorry for Anna Passey in the same way).
