LMAO. I wondered what on earth was going on in that first picture, I thought she was playing some sort of futuristic computer game.

This seems very absurd and very melodramatic. She's cutting up the license plate that Linda didn't even want her to be on in the first place? It seems to me that both Mick and Linda are perfectly happy running the Vic without her. And what exactly does she gain by cutting it up?

I cannot believe that we're still getting these 'Who will Shirley pick?' and 'Can Mick and Shirley reunite?!' scenes.

So I assume this is after Shirley sees Dean's bruises from prison? So does she feel guilty and therefore choses Dean out of guilt? Or does she blame Linda because she thinks it's her fault that Dean was involved with the police in the first place?

When was the last time Shirley actually helped out in the Vic? Three months ago maybe?

So she storms off, goes to a builders yard, finds the equipment, gets a ladder, unscrews the license plate, props it up on the bar mats, gets Buster to lean on one end and cuts it in half. It's an awful lot of effort. Isn't it more her style to throw a brick through the window or something?

Haha yes so true, although knowing EastEnders probably all we'll see is Shirley walk into the pub with the license plate and then cut in half and be expected to fill in the gaps about how she was able to get all the equipment and take it down. I find the use of head gear hilarious, I know that it's needed as otherwise it would be totally unrealistic that Shirley would be unharmed without it, but it just looks so weird, and as if Shirley would go to all that effort in obtaining it just to make a point. I'm actually really looking forward to this scene, it just seems so far fetched and ridiculous I think it will be hilarious

This scene is ridiculously OTT.

Climbing up on a ladder and taking the sign down would be fine, but going to this extent is simply removing all credibility

I'm tempted to swear. A lot.

Which numbskull thought up this? Which numbsull thought that this was a good idea and passed it? Whoever you are you want sacking, NOW because you've lost the bloody plot.

Can't agree more with the two posts above. It is absolutely BEYOND stupid and no I don't have to see how it plays out to judge (before anyone says that). OTT theatrics which add absolutely nothing to the storyline except make Shirley look like an even bigger arse than she already is.

But, lest we forget, Shirley sob-storied Mick into persuading his wife to put her name there. If Linda had had any sense and wasn't so desperate to please Mick she'd have told him where to eff off as THEY paid for the Vic, Shirley only got her name on the licence (and a share of the pub?) because she emotionally blackmailed her son into it. Oh she was all for it then but now she wants out? With no doubt a hefty cheque following? They should tell her to eff off

Honestly, if I was a mega Shirley fan (like some on here and elsewhere) I would be livid at what they're doing to her. How the hell is the character supposed to come back from this? Drunken tears and a few sorry's? Might work on Linda and Mick but some viewers will find it harder to forget and God knows they already have plenty to chuck at the character!

Hmm, I guess they figure that they can make Shirley do anything regardless of how insane it is! I honestly can't quite understand what they are doing with Shirley. But, imo, the only way to accept it is to just take it as lighthearted regardless, she does certainly know how to cause drama. I'm not sure who approved but don't forget, last year, we had 'dog meat pies'. On the bright side, It looks like it was fun to film.

Realisticslly, no matter how crazy, I think it just a plot device to dramatically mark the beginning of Shirley being bought out of the vic in the next few weeks (according to the spoilers). It's just an attention grabbing way by tptb to take Shirley's name from the door.

It does bother me that they created her family and continue to further ostracize her from it and continually associate her with rapist Dean, even if she doesn't know. Like you say some viewers won't forgot and I have no idea how they will explain this away!

The scene looks so OTT and crazy that I think it will be absolutely hilarious to watch!

She only gave £10,000 that she borrowed from Phil so shouldn't be hard to buy her out

Exactly, she owns all of 1%, it wasn't even her money to begin with.

Good riddance, get her out and promptly bar the old bitch.

Why don't they use the smelting gear on Shirley?

Tina and Nancy can hold her down, Lee could handle Buster, Mick prevents her struggling and Linda can let lose with the welding gear.

Isn't it? You have to see the funny side of it, I think it's going to brilliant. There is only one way to take these kinds of scenes, and that isn't seriously, it's in good humour.

It's a bit Bryan Kirkwood

Soon, DTC might bring the odd "love and warmth" (wink wink) to EE too.

Haha, it is going to be funny. I would have loved to have seen her reaction when the script came through! I did have a chuckle when I read about it this morning.

They can get Shirley to do anything, because it's Shirley! Same with Phil. I bet they are such fun characters to play.

I'm going slightly off topic with this post but with Matt still filming, I think we are going to have to accept that the story is going to be going on for the foreseeable. I think they are keeping it going until the birth of Linda's baby and then we can sit through the paternity test...
Babe, Shirley and Buster are among my favourite characters and I hope this rape storyline doesn't take them down with it!

Just something she had lying around.

'Re Shirley and the Vic, she may not have put as much money in but when they put her name above the door and signed the deeds she became a partner. My friend owns a pub and she said if she decided to put my name above the door and we signed all the deeds, it wouldn't matter how much I put it, my name would still be above the door, and I would have a say it what happened. Don't know if she is right but that is what I am told.
