I might have missed something but wasn't Roya born in Pakistan? How did she end up in the UK with Pam as her social worker and Claudette fostering her? (as is being speculated anyway)
I read somewhere that Shirley will find her granddaughter Roya ... and people were speculating that Pam would be the social worker that had taken care of her case and/or Claudette fostering her
No she told Stacey right at the start that Roya was born somewhere in London, close to Shabnam's Aunt and Uncle, who's doorstep she then left Roya on. They called the police who put the child into care. She stupidly thought the Aunt and Uncle would get to keep Roya and that she would therefore be raised by members of her own family.
Shabnam said she was staying at a B&B in Poplar at the time, but I'm not sure if that's where Roya was born. It does sound as though Shabnam left for hajj and later Pakistan after Roya's birth as a sort of a self-imposed penance.
Oh ok thanks so much for explaining ... I just assumed she'd gone straight to Pakistan after discovering the pregnancy, as we never did see her pregnant on screen .. ok makes sense now

No worries, I think Shabnam actually said that when she left, she led people to believe that she had gone straight abroad, when in reality she sneaked off to Poplar (just a few miles away) with the intention of giving birth in secret.
