I really hope not That would be a waste of acting talent and a travesty given how great an actress Diane Parish is.

I hope so, it started off so promisingly and then stopped before it even started properly. I hope it is revisited. It would be interesting to see Denise go off the rails! And Di Parish could pull it off.

Maybe when she realises she's been taken for a mug by yet another man, when Dean gets found out?

They need to give the Carters less screentime and give Denise more airtime

I want to say I hope so, because I don't like when storylines just disappear for no reason, but at the same time I want no more misery for Denise she deserves the Shirley treatment bring in the Fox cavalry I say. I'm willing to accept that the alcohol was just a blip. Sometimes alcohol dependency can last for a short time. Also Lauren's addiction is still too fresh in my mind.

I agree. Hopefully DTC remembers Denise's alcohol problem and revisits it.

I think Denise was just going through a bad patch, and understandably after Ian and Patrick. Some people become reliant on alcohol or substances like Valium during bad patches / time of grief, etc. Not all of them will turn into raging lifelong addicts who lose everything and end up in the gutter.

I don't think there's any need to revisit it. Denise has her sister / best friend back and Pearl now, she's not alone as she was before, plus she's a very strong woman. Also, we've seen no hint of Denise acting erratically or looking unkempt, so I think it's done with.

I agree with you. Denise went through a bad patch because of loneliness and the pressure of looking after Patrick, resorted to drink for a while and then picked herself up when Kim returned. With her family back together and Patrick on the mend you can see that she's in a much better place now.

Why would it be a waste? There's nothing to say the actress won't be given big storylines again.

I'd say that's a certainty since she is one of EE's best actresses, unless she decides to leave.

Because under the right actress such a storyline would be superb.

It would. But I don't think Denise's character is right for it.

I agree. Under any good actress any storyline would work.

Yes, I also think that when Kim found out about Denise hurting Patrick, that was a massive wake-up call for Denise. She knew she had to get herself back on track. We know she's determined and strong. She will have felt extremely guilty for what she did to Patrick and we know Denise is fundamentally a very good person, though flawed under pressure, but of course, that is real people / the real world.

I do as far as I know she's still suffering financial woes and is caring for Patrick.

I struggle with the use of "bad patch" she physically abused a disabled man, yet it's just been brushed off. Lots of people struggle to cope with caring for disabled relatives but they don't hurt them .... a bad patch does not excuse what she did.

As for her drink problem it was ala Phil Mitchell, someone tells you to clean up your act and that's it sorted!!
