Delighted to see that Peter will be there for Deirdre's send-off. Let's hope that we'll also see Bev making a comeback.

It's great to see an actor with an unfaltering loyalty to the show. The show has been great to Gascoyne but he really wasn't best served as a character during his last twelve months on the show with the Godawful affair with Tina.

Glad he'll be there and wouldn't mind seeing what he's got to say about nick trying to shag another one of his ex birds

Excellent news!! Big fan of Peter as a character and Chris as an actor!! Looking forward to his permanent return when the time is right for him!!
Yes would be good to see Susie Blake reprise Bev for a couple of episodes, particularly as that's who Deirdre has been staying with!!

I'm pleased to hear it but i'm not surprised. Gascoyne has always said he'd return in time, i'm sure he was cared for Anne Kirkbride so would want to do it for her and Peter and Deardre were close. Despite her not bringing her up and there only being about 10 years age difference, Deardre is the closest thing to a mother figure Peter can remember.

This is great news, I know it isn't always possible due to actor schedules etc but the excuses for close family and friends not being present at funerals are always dire.

“It is only right that Peter would be there, and if I can I will always want to keep that continuity. The show has been very good to me"

Great sentiment from Chris - I look forward another long stint when he's ready to return - he's made Peter his own....he IS Peter

It is - but its lovely that Chris has decided to return to pay tribute to both Deirdre and Anne.

It is really good that he has agreed to return and I also agree with other posters that Susie Blake should be asked back seeing as Deirdre is likely to die whilst staying with her character Bev.

For the sake of Ken and Tracey I'm glad Peter's coming back. Especially for Tracey, who is probably going to need a lot of support. They had their ups and downs over the years, but I did enjoy watching the relationship between those two.

So pleased about this, the funeral would not be the same without Peter.

I wonder if he will return for the upcoming plot with Simon and Leanne?

Very pleased to hear this. It will greatly to the reality of the editions. It would be highly improbable that Peter would not come back for the funeral. He is only in Portsmouth, so not a big deal for the character to return. Hope Susie Blake returns too

Credit to the actor for not being one of these 'too good', or 'too busy' types of actors to return. I will be pleased to see Peter return for Deidre's funeral.

That is good news; I like the character of Peter and he is played by a good actor. I hope he will stay and have some scenes with Simon.

This. ^^^

We bumped into Chris Gascoyne before the show when we went to Birmingham to see him in panto. We had a quick chat. He struck me as a lovely down to earth man and very attractive too!

I'm so glad Peter's going to be there for Deirdre's funeral. I remember when Archie - Roy Hudd returned for Blanche's send-off. Lovely.

I am actually looking forward to seeing Peter again but I wish it was under other circumstances.

I did feel the character was exhausted before he left but that was due to bad writing. The Peter/Tina affair was awful and I never bought him with Carla either. Peter, Leanne and Simon made such a tight little unit.

However, Chris is right. He should be there for this and I'm sure the writers can manage to keep Peter in character for two episodes.

It doesn't sound as though he plans to return full-time any time soon and that's probably a good thing as we would just get a rehash of the Peter/Carla drama and it would mean more screen time for the ghastly Simon.

Yes, I think she has to appear really. Even though Deirdre going off to stay with a woman she barely spoke to when they both lived on the street didn't make much sense in the first place.
