EastEnders: Just what is Babe's game...
So last night we saw Babe looking at the family photo - of which she isn't in and deciding to play the two Carter sides off against each other while hiding under the 'guise of mediated. She is lying to Shirley and badmouthing her to Mick.
Babe tore them apart when Shirley gave birth and desperately tried to stop her telling Mick the truth throughout last year, she persuaded Shirley not to tell Mick after the shooting and didn't tell her it was safe to come back - wanting to keep her away. Annette Badland has said that Babe loves Mick, she brought him to the world and was the first person to hold him - does she want to muscle in and be the the 'mother' of the family and to Mick? Just what is her game? Now we have the 'secret' that happened in Ramsgate alongside the Shirley/Mick situation, Babe said she only did whatever it was to protect her family - but it seems like it was more than that. Next week she is continuing to play the family off against each other and it wouldn't surprise me if she had been involved in that Carter fire in order to divide the family back then. Her poison about Stan is part of what affected his relationship with Shirley and by extension Mick also and she didn't like them all getting along. Any thoughts on Babe and what her agenda is? She is brilliantly evil and playing so many different games that I don't even know who's side she is on! I look forward to the scenes with her and Sylvie tonight and after that last scene with Cora - I am looking forward to Cora coming back and stirring up trouble for Babe! |

I feel sorry for her to be honest. No children and no family, really. No wonder she's trying to manipulate her way into the matriarchy, she probably would've committed suicide by now.

Babe is such a complex character but when Cora exposes Babe it could be the end of Babe.

I equally hate her actions and feel sorry for at the same time - she is great to watch! I understand her trying to manipulate her way into the family and take on the 'matriarch' crown but why is she so insistent on keeping Shirley and Mick apart? And the the family divided? She has done since she first came back on the scene...I can't wait to find out her game!

I still think that Babe is Shirley's birth mother, that she too gave birth in Ramsgate and her sister Sylvie brought up the child as her own. Clearly Stan knew this, and told Cora before he died.

She's fabulous to watch. I suspect she's been manipulating this family for years. there's no doubt that she's been doing her utmost to keep Shirley and Mick apart whilst convincing Shirley that she's on her side. She's also a bit crazy. Her delight in having Stan all to herself once he was on his death bed (until Cora turned up) was bizarre.

I don't think Babe is Shirley's mum. The 'secret' is something that could get her in trouble with the police, apparently.
I agree, Vald. She certainly has, I'm interested as to why she has been doing that, I understand with Sylvie because of her unrequited love for Stan but Shirley/Mick - just what is her agenda, what does she gain from dividing them, why did she orchestrate the whole thing in the first place. She constantly told Shirley that Mick would never forgive her and put her off telling him, I'm wondering why... Babe is brilliant to watch, she is crazy, has been spurned and is seemingly without much of a conscience.

Yet it would register with her for a moment and then she'd be back in her fantasy world. So now I'm wondering how much actually happened (and something did happen), and how much is just in her own head. |

We know Babe is the evil one. I'm just tired of trying to guess what her game is. On this occasion I shall wait to be surprised. I'd be willing to bet she isn't Shirley's mother or sister, but I slightly wish she was just so more people can hate the Carters

It doesn't matter what her game is, all that matters is that it leads to another 6 secrets for the Carters.

She is a brilliant actress. She plays nasty so well too. I remember her stint in Bad Girls - very well done.

I bet Aunt Babe is a dirty fighter in all. She could do Cora some real damage with that gap in her teeth .

Babe's game must be "hide the trifle" where the family has to go on a treasure hunt to find that tasty treat
