I just don't understand why some people are so unwilling to believe that the dog had hypnotic powers.

Of course they will be. That doesn't surprise me at all.

They all just happened to be sitting in the front row too, how convenient. Oh and there was exactly enough people so there would be two seats available for Ant and Dec. And one more thing, if they were normal audience members, why didn't they just take their seats after the act finished instead of going backstage ?”

Yeah, I noticed that. I was thinking to myself as I watched it, why are you falling gently if you've really been hypnotised into sleep? Totally fake.

Cowell and Ant and Dec should be ashamed that they acted( badly) in this silly skit. I have only started watching this programme this series, but already I have had enough, if this is all that ITV can come up with then I dont want to know.

Wasnt it bad enough that they decided to show that awful , and badly acted, Schofield thing the other week?

Looks like this crazy act has been going on for years, originally by her uncle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnodog

This type of tripe and the gullible morons who are sucked into it and think it's real, just about sums up the level of intelligence of the general public in this country these days and also the idiotic and talentless presenters of this show! People should hang their heads in shame if they ever watch this pile of excrement again.

I thought it was surreal at first, but it became obvious everyone was in on it and it was fake, especially when Cowell and the judges themselves became part of the sketch.

Yes, talking dogs are amazing.

Too bad we've never actually seen one on this show.

In my 6 years of using Twitter I haven't known it to easily fool people, it can even be more critical than the DS forums.

As for the dog thing, I hated it. It's suppose to be a talent show but they stage things and put through joke acts, none of it is real.

Er, maybe it's because dogs cannot and do not have hypnotic powers, unless it is possessed by some spirit, which is very unlikely. Therefore, this renders the so-called 'hypnotic' dog act a fake.

Does the show actually think people are going to believe that act is genuine??”

Agree.

I actually feel disappointed in Ant and Dec for playing along with it.

You've oversold it. After the first post I thought you might be serious, but not after the second one.

Hypnodog played my student union a few years ago. The first half of the show was a bog standard hypnosis show where members of the audience got hypnotised and did things (like the counting gag which was on last night) and then the dog came on at the end for the finale. But each of the participants was hypjotised prior to the dog coming on stage. So my guess is that the people she brought up were hypnotised beforehand and the dog part is just used as an illusion to hide her hypnotising (it was a different dog when I saw the show).

I noticed all the chosen people were from more/less the front of the stage.

Seems literally nobody in this thread knows how stage hypnotism works!

Edit for clarification: The audience members went backstage to be brought out of their hypnotic trance, also everyone involved will have been seen by the hypnotist before filming even started, looking into the dogs eyes on camera just acts as the trigger for them falling asleep.

My friend's auntie is a well known stage hypnotist who has done student union events for many years so I'm well placed to share my opinion here.

You and your actual fact-based opinion! *shakes fist*

Of course it's all "fake" in a sense, but I think people are taking it far too seriously (what a shocker for a Cowell show!!).

Actually hypnotising multiple people on stage in front of everyone would be incredibly boring and take a long time as well. And that's without making sure the people are susceptible to hypnosis in the first place.

yea i guess they were hypnotised before hand and look into the dogs eyes, and it does look like the dog did it all Haha

Haha I hope I've ruffled a few feathers as I've lurked the DS forums for years now. Some people just shouldn't post and I'm probably one of them!

I think it's more like a magic act: you know it's not real but it's how it's presented that matters.

Perhaps not feathers, but you have certainly raised a few hackles - well done.

And keep posting - everyone else does or there would be no DS. DS makes boring shows almost entertaining!
