CS - Norris, "Are you going by tram?"
I cracked up when Jenny was in the shop and said she was taking Jack out for the day and Norris asked her if they were going by tram!

I really didn't understand that at all. Was he calling her old? A bit weird when she's younger than him. Does one have to remember her first stint to get it? Am I just thick?

Her Dad was Alan Bradley and even if you didn't watch at the time, most people would know about Rita's abusive ex who got killed by a tram as he chased Rita through Blackpool.
Well sorry, I just looked it up and I was 5 when he was killed, so... |

Norris is a git. Yes, let's make jokes about someone's dad dying. I bet he pinched the first years' money in the playground.

That was below the belt.
Even though Norris isn't known for his tact, I don't believe he would say something like that. I hate it when Corrie writers think they're being funny by making light of highly serious situations. It was the same when Audrey casually commented that she was wearing the same outfit to Gail and Michael's wedding (the first one) that she had worn when Gail married Richard...this is Richard who terrorised the family. As if she would even have kept it, let alone worn it again. |

Off topic - but I actually like the character of Jenny Bradley now. The actress is so much better this time around and I find I'm very curious about her. I'm thinking maybe in the time she's been away she's had a tragic life (possibly had a child and it died - which would probably explain her over-worrisome actions when Jack was under the weather).
I think her story arc has the potential to be a very interesting one (unless the writers stuff it up of course - which as recent evidence suggests - they probably will). |

He was a lot nicer when Sarah was pregnant to Bethany, and when Blanche was being bitchy towards her he told her to cut it out.
Another character who is being ruined. He goes from nosy to a one dimensional snidey prick. They need to start giving him more layers, he sometimes does show nice moments but not enough. |

Yeah, the tram thing was a little distasteful and a tad insulting not only towards Jenny but to his beloved Reet, surely? As others have pointed out, Norris never used to be so bitter, snide and one-dimensional. A sad case of intelligent and talented writers retiring or quitting and being replaced by thickos... Quote:

Jenny blamed Rita for Alan's death but stayed in Weatherfield until 1991. She returned two years later, claiming she was a changed person, but it turned out that she really wanted a cheque for £30,000 from Rita to set up her own business. Rita was disgusted and gave her a cheque for £1,000 and told her to get out of her life. Disagree with the majority on here. Thought it was the most in-character line Norris has had in ages and perfectly delivered by Malcolm Hebden. Norris is much better when he's being a sarcastic snipey little git in order to stick up for those he cares about rather than just for the sake of it.

I agree it was in character but that's because Norris isn't a particularly nice person a lot of the time. And I guess with Blanche gone they've had to up it a level to fill the Nasty OAP role. (Blanche herself was quite nice until the storyline with Sarah, when they ended up giving her lines that were written for Les while Bruce Jones was in rehab, after which being nasty for the sake of it became her "thing".) Actually, I think that was going too far even for him.

She was in the corner shop in 2010 when the tram crashed causing her death. A double blow from Nozza there. |

I don't get why Rita is still holding this 20 year old grudge either. For goodness sake, she was just a bratty teenager with a shed load of attitude.
I like Jenny, she has a lot of spark and layers. I'm very interested to see why she's so overprotective of Jack. |
