A different take on the theme to be seen here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv_FRBRM0cg

Not for purists perhaps, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

It was a little too Staccato for my liking.
Great technique though. They obviously put a lot of effort into the video, what with the effects and numerous costume changes (which were also interesting, with their feminine take on them.)

In the sixties there were many cover versions by all the orchestras at the time proving how good a theme Ron Grainer wrote just as this version did.

I am always annoyed when Eileen Derbyshire is given far to much credit for her electronic additions which an orchestra could not add in a concert performance.

I'm amazed that they never had Eilleen show off her amazing Keyboard skills as Emily during all the years she was on Coronation Street.

Thankfully, the composer understood exactly how much of a contribution Delia Derbyshire actually made to the Doctor Who theme tune.

"When Grainer first heard it, he was so amazed by her rendering of his theme that he asked "Did I really write this?" to which Derbyshire replied "Most of it". Grainer attempted to get her a co-composer credit but the attempt was prevented by the BBC bureaucracy"

Delia deserves the credit she rightfully gets as a true pioneer of electronic music.

Unless you're talking about the Hartnell Era, it's 'Doctor Who' not 'Dr Who'.

Sorry, it really annoys me when people call it 'Dr Who'. Even the bloody lecturer does it.

I guess if we're being really picky, then Series 6 should be referred to as "Doctor DW Who".

Did they actually call the character "Durr Who" though? Or is it just that Dr. is the normal abbreviation of Doctor?

Hope you don't drink Dr Pepper.

The latter. It's not spelling it properly; it's being lazy.

It wasn't abbreviated in the Hartnell logo either.

That said, it doesn't turn my skin green.

No it isn't.

Or is everyone also lazy for typing 'Roger Delgado' instead of Roger Caesar Marius Bernard de Delgado Torres Castillo Roberto? ;p

But it was generally abbreviated in TV Guides (there's PDF files from DVDs and online pictures of it) back then. It isn't now.

Considering you only tend to type a first name and surname and that's 'Roger Degaldo' is the name Roger Delgado went by, no. But 'Dr Who' isn't the name of the show, it's 'Doctor Who'.

There's nothing wrong with typing 'Dr Who' whatsoever. And, although I recognise we're on a forum dedicated to discussing the show, I think if that grinds your gears then you need to rethink some priorities

It is in some places. And, even so... who cares? Doctor Who, Dr Who, Dr. Who... all the same thing. (And, DB, you've probably referred to the show as 'DW' before, which is also the same thing.)

Troughton also signs a document as "Dr W" at one point too, IIRC.

Also, fun fact: A line of dialogue written for The Empty Child, but cut, would have had the Doctor himself use the name as part of a joke involving Star Trek (after being hailed as Mr. Spock by Rose, the Doctor was to have muttered, "I'd rather be Dr Who than Star Trek").

Well William Hartnell was definitely Dr. Who. It's a fact you can't deny, like there being 6000 bicycles on the moon when all you need is a knife:

I wasn't going to reply, since yours was an opinion, which holds as much validity as mine own, however, calling me lazy is getting personal.

Do you perchance, when addressing an envelope, write Mister out fully? Or do you abbreviate it? What about Mrs? Do you complain to your local health centre when they abbreviate doctor on their name signs?

If I were to be really picky shouldn't Dalek Buster be two words rather than one?

Are you too shallow to give an opinion on the clip I posted rather than to contradict me and express a contentious opinion and feeling as though it were strict fact?

But the full and salient point is, does any of this really matter? And the answer to that is, no.
