EE: Character renamed...
Just had a look at the cast list for 4/5/15 and it showed a Bex Fowler character, I wondered who this was until I saw Jasmine Armfield was playing her. Guess instead of reverting to Chloe, Rebecca decides on Bex....

Bex doesn't sound very gothy. She should have called herself Hades or something.
Seriously, it annoys me more than it ordinarily would. Just seems like change for the sake of change but then DTC does whatever the hell he wants anyway, the tosser. |

Bex is a shortened version of Rebecca. It's not a character being renamed

It suits her.
![]() My son was always trying out variations of his name in his teens...confusing at times, but harmless. |

I never liked the name Rebecca, it was too clunky for my liking, so I was excited when it looked like she was going back to Chloe, but that would have been even more of a disrespect to her adopted parents. So I think Bex is a lovely compromise, this will be where she starts to grow into her own character. |

Well it is though isn't it? If she is now going to be referred to as Bex and not Rebecca then it is a renaming of the character. In the same vein that Sue Branning was renamed Suzy and Christopher Hanley was renamed Kristopher.

I used to work with a lady called Rebecca and everyone called her Bex - it's just a variation on the name. My name is Andrea and everyone calls me Andy - it's the same sort of thing.

His name was just referred to on screen and it was then assumed that it was spelt with a c. |

Suzy and Bex are variations of Sue and Rebecca , I wouldn't class the use of them as a change of name.

I don't understand why Martin and Sonia stuck with Rebecca after all they got her back from her adoptive parents when she was still very young. I'm surprised they didn't revert to Chloe then.

Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05tvgwd Thoughts? it's not a rename. It's a shortened version of the same name. No big deal but just a pointer that the character is becoming her own person rather than just a child. |
