Britney Spears' last solo #1 single in the U.K. was Everytime in 2004. Do you think she will hit #1 again? She's still only 33, so I think there's a good chance she will if she finds herself another quality pop song. She really needs another big hit to push her album sales back up.

No, Britney hasn't been cool or relevant since Womanizer. It would take something big for her to be number 1 again

Hopefully, if she has a song that's popular with both the general public and the fanbase. It would be good if Pretty Girls got to No 1, but I don't know. It doesn't seem to be "cool" to like Britney any more, and this is coming from a long term and loyal fan. Work Bitch went top 10 (it went to No 7 IIRC) so there is still hope yet.

I think if she can get the song on radio then she'll have another hit on her hands.

I don't think she cares anymore. I think she does the songs she likes and couldn't care less about how they sell.

im a big Britney fan but I doubt it unless she does major promotion in the UK and not just one chat show and a couple of radio shows. I think if she tours the UK, that might help but that wont happen as she's in Vegas til 2017. Also, making the UK wait two months for release is stupid and wont help at all

You know what I never understood though? Me Against the Music went to #2 in 2003 and Toxic and Everytime went to #1 in 2004, yet the album that they came from [In The Zone] only went to #13 I never understood how?

She hasn't released anything decent for a long time. Used to be a big Britney fan between 99-04

Scream & Shot went to #1 in January 2013 even though it was a Will.I.Am song, it still featured Britney Spears.

Plus there seems to be a lot of buzz with the fans surrounding new single Pretty Girls. Also with Iggy Azalea being one of the more popular female artists in the charts over the last 12 months this new single could get to #1 if it does well on both iTunes and Spotify.

That said, will Pretty Girls get released in the UK on 5th May? Or will it be released everywhere else first but just be made available to pre-order in the UK as is usually the case.

She won't get one on her own again she is only going to do by collaborating with someone more relevant like scream and shout

Number ones don't seem to mean much anymore. Hardly anyone seems to even know whats number one even youngsters don't have a clue.

I'll tell them whats number one and they had no idea.

If she'd released Toxic first I've no doubt it would've charted higher. It debuted at 14 and went back up to 13 after Toxic was released. If those sales came all at once at the start...who knows.

Femme Fatale was superb.

And as others have said, I do wonder whether being 'number 1' has lost its novelty. And IMO 'streaming' has completely buggered up the charts , and I think it should have its own separate chart .

It was pretty good. Circus was good too and as for Blackout... well that album is flawless and definitely considered Britney's best Britney Jean was pants though bar a few songs. Definitely my least favourite.

Pretty much every single she released pre-breakdown was fantastic (My Prerogative is one of the best CDs in my entire collection - it's just packed with hits!). Even since 2007 she's put out some excellent stuff (Gimme More, Circus, Most of Femme Fetale, even Britney Jean had flashes of genius).

However, she is completely void of any personality these days. I don't know what they did her her throughout those middle years, but something is definately not right with her. Every performance, every interview, every public outing since 2007... she's just dead behind the eyes. It's a shame.

Shut up, if you don't know what your talking about then just zip it, yes she's been distant in recent years and not very happy but you clearly haven't seen anything of her recently otherwise you wouldn't have said that. A very disrespects me little person.

Was it ever 'cool' to like Britney? I'm not slagging, I just don't know if Britney ever was a female singer it was 'okay' for everyone to like, in the way that someone like Katy Perry or Ellie Goulding is seen as 'cool' sometimes.

Were all her fans generally young women/gay men/kids or did she ever hit other markets? Nothing against those markets, obviously they are responsible or partly responsible for the huge success of lots and lots of pop singers and bands e.g. One Direction or the Spice Girls.

I would, she shows zero personality even now IMO.

I think those that think she shows zero personality haven't been keeping up to date with Britney lately, those days are long behind her, she was unhappy for a long time but now she is in a good place, her recent Vegas performances have been absolute fire, she has her passion her back, her new single has been planned properly, something her last album lacked, between 2013-2015 she got her magic and passion back.
She does NOT look dead behind the eyes, she gets nervous, and she's shy, so she appears meek, but on stage, she is a complete diva, that's how she expresses herself.
Anyone who thinks a 33 year old should be performing like a 19 year old isn't fair, she's had knee injuries, that's the main cause for her decrease in dancing, its not that she can't, its that she's very nervous to dance all out on a knee that could dislocate at any minute.
