Looks like the end of the line for the Nexus 7. Just checked and its no longer on play store. Shame, great format but lollipop update really killed it.

Really? How come my 2013 wi-fi Nexus 7 is running perfectly fine on the latest 5.1?

My 2013 Nexus 7 is also still running perfectly, the 2012 edition however isn't fit for purpose since 5.0

To be fair the 2012 Nexus 7 has had ongoing memory related problems since it first came out.

There have been an unusually high number of reported issues with lollipop and Nexus 7. More so than nexus 4 and 5

I don't really use my N7 2012 much, other than playing Family Guy Quest for stuff and showing videos or pictures on it.

The 2nd to last update screwed it up, but the latest patch has helped. It does feel worse than when I first bought it though.

No it has been more specific than that. The recent update to 5.1 was for a few weeks only available for the 2012 Nexus 7. There were lots of reports of issues, mainly to do with lagging, but all for the old model. I've seen very few reports of problems with the latest version of Lollipop and the 2013 Nexus 7. The 2012 Nexus 7 has never worked very well. The more it is used, and especially the more the memory is filled up, the slower and less responsive it becomes.

I don't put mine (2012 vintage) to any serious use any more. One of the updates seemed to really screw up the performance.

Now it's my bedside clock/alarm at night and a digital photo frame during the day...until I can think of a better use for it.

That is what I don't understand. Most of the issues were with 2012 version so why pull the 2013 version with no replacement announced. So now you have the option of 6" phone or 9" tablet, nothing bigger or in between. Maybe some issues with Asus over supply ?

Would be interested to see if anyone is clearing them on the cheap as the 2013 model is still a very good tablet. I remember Argos had a deal on Nexus 7 tablets some time ago but I don't remember the details, think it was a N7 2013 model 32GB RAM for £149.

Now that strikes me as being good value. A 32 GB Nexus 9 Wifi only with 32GB RAM is £399 from Google store.

Wonder if it's still got kit kat as its OS, or whether updated as far as 5.1.

Probably neither. A friend bought a new Nexus 7 just before last Xmas and it came with 4.3 on it.

That's pretty much what I thought would be the case. Thanks.

5.1 is out for the Nexus 7, but it seems to have left a trail of damaged/bricked tablets

Did you bother to read any of the earlier posts?

If anyone is thinking of picking up an end of line 2013 Nexus 7 from somewhere such as Argos, then you might like to know that it is now getting the very latest 5.1.1 update of Lollipop. It seems to be running fine on my rooted 32GB model, although it has only been on a couple of hours.

My Nexus 7 2012 Wifi is still going fine, thankyou very much - and was very much fit for purpose up until I put Lollipop on it. Then it became a slow, sluggish, bloated piece of crap. A quick downgrade to 4.4.4 and it's fine again. This suggests to me it's the firmware, not the hardware, that's to blame. Until Android gets its act together and releases a stable, working version of Lollipop that can be used on all its branded devices, I'm happy staying at 4.4.4. Does everything I need it to anyway - the upgrade was mainly cosmetic for me.

That is a cracking good deal for anyone who wants a tablet, 32gb as well and you'll be guaranteed to get the latest 5.1.1 when it comes.

That's an incredible deal , it's virtually an Ipad air equivalent , unfortunately can't justify buying one at the moment .

The Nexus 10 had a higher resolution screen. Cost cutting was certainly going on there.
However, it has the same stuff such as ports and GPS.

I did a wipe and reinstall of the OS and my N7 2012 is working a lot better.

I took the plunge and downgraded my 2012 N7 to KitKat and it's back on form.

However is there anyway to suppress the annoying reminder to upgrade that keeps popping up?
