I would like to see this in Neighbours. Tyler would be a good character for this potential storyline and he could face opposition from his Father who I think is coming into the show.

Yes. all soaps should. I'm bisexual myself and it's quite ignorant just for everyone e to say that a character is now gay. Sonia seems to be an example of that In ee. Danny pennant seemed to be the only character where this aas acknowledged properly but neighbours should definatly tackle it. A biphobia storyline would be an Interesting topic as people do t like bisexuals or assume they don't exist like a mythical creatures.

I think Bisexuality is very invisible on television, Neighbours did well to create Chris and now Nate but a BiPhobia storyline with Tyler could be good for him- I wouldn't to do it with Nate though, my preference would be Ned Willis if he is cast.

In an episode from last week when Kyle walked in on a naked Tyler, Tyler was very relaxed about it all. I sense that Tyler could be bisexual.

Bisexuality will rarely be adequately portrayed on TV as there are too many idiots who believe that if you show a man dating a woman after dating a man, you are suggesting sexuality can change

Maybe he's just happy in his skin?!?

Just cause he's comfortable doesn't mean he's gay or bi. But all your threads revolves around sexuality.

Well that confirms it. Those bisexuals are always walking around with no clothes on and not caring who sees them. So promiscious.

I keep hearing on the news and reading articles about how gay/bisexual people want to be treated the same as straight people, that they shouldn't be differentiated. Unfortunately threads like this are doing just that - differentiating between straight and gay/bisexual people. It feels like a step back.

I think having a bisexual character would open up the potential to create some interesting drama. Not sure it should be Tyler, though, as he's not shown any interest in Nate so far (outside of friendship).

But why must it be a male character? Is it b/c Nate will need a love interest at some point? I think it would be interesting if they introduced a lesbian character and her bisexual love interest. The show hasn't had a decent gay female since Lana Crawford.

I also think the show needs to redeem itself from the awfulness that was Alan and, Sheila's terrible reaction to him telling her he was bi. I know he was just a guest character that most probably don't remember (and honestly, I had to think about what his name was), but the overall message of that story was rather negative.

Which character is gay in Home and Away? Last time i remember Charlie Buckton and Joey Collins lesbian storyline but Charlie realise she's still straight. I think Gypsy Nash pretend to be lesbian for the reason.

Pippa and Tom's son Chris is gay and can't remember others. Hope they bring gay/bisexual characters in home and away soon.

I thought H & A was a LGBT free zone?

The americans are worse with bisexual characters
Both Adrienne and Marissa from 90210 and The OC were "temporary lesbians" for several episodes. By the next season, they were back to being straight and it was never ever mentioned again. Although as enjoyable as these shows were, they were never well written and 90210 had the worst continuity I have ever known an american teen soap to have. One of the characters killed someone once and by next season, it was as if it never happened.

The best bisexual character I have seen has been Callie in Grey's anatomy. She's been married to both a man and a woman.

Don't H&A have some sort of policy against it?

I have a feeling Piper in Neighbours could be bisexual, something she said to Imogen yesterday suggests that.

The Donna was supposed to be bi-sexual, but apart from mentioning it once and then 'stealing Sunny's first kiss' *shakes head and sighs*, it was never really used to any degree.

And they treated her character appallingly by partnering her with the thoroughly useless Ringo Brown. His death is the reason that Steph will always get a hero's welcome from me whenever she appears on the street.

Neighbours could have four LGBT characters now.

Nate & Aaron being gay
Steph & Piper being bisexual

Steph's partner is coming into it as well so that would be 5, that said I don't think any show should tackle a subject just to do it but it if happens then fine

I 100% agree there should be more bisexual characters (or characters who are wrongly identified as gay should be identified as bisexual - i.e. Sonia in EE).

But..

Why does it need to be "tackled" and treated like a big deal or a storyline made out of it? Those days are gone. That was the 90s and 00s. It was important for TV and soaps to go through that, and there's still a lot of ignorance out there, but times have moved on and the way these characters are portrayed has too. The best way is just to have a character who happens to be bisexual, and let them get on with it. No "tackling".

Never have the words "Case in point" been more relevant.
