James Hill on CBB

There are rumours (not sure how true they are) that James Hill from Series 10 will appear on the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.

I don't watch it so it may be that I'm not qualified to comment, but to be honest I can't really see why they'd go for him. As far as I am aware, the only former Apprentice candidates who have done Celebrity Big Brother in the past have been Katie Hopkins and Luisa, both of whom were a bit unique. They stood out, not just in their own series but across the whole of The Apprentice history. I wouldn't put James in the same category at all - in terms of entertainment value, he was probably in the top five or six in his series, but he certainly doesn't stand out across the franchise as a whole. There have been many like him in the past, and assuming it continues a good few years, there will be many more. If I was the producer and wanted someone who stood out from last year's series for CBB, I would approach Sarah as my first choice - and after her there would be a few more I would go to before James.

Anyway, I don't know if there's any truth in it, it's just what they are saying on the BB forums so I thought I'd throw it out there.

NID. He was basically the Luisa of the series.

Sorry, what does NID mean? Not familiar with that acronym.

I don't see how James was similar to Luisa. He struck me as being very loud, but quite insecure, desperate to gain Lord Sugar's attentions but went about it entirely the wrong way, didn't have a lot of common sense and despite being an okay salesman, was pretty much impossible to work with and blustered a lot. Luisa seemed a lot more confident than him - she could be quite difficult to work with as well, but she was more talented, more articulate and had a lot more business sense. Even if you didn't agree with Luisa's point, she'd be able to express it well enough that you'd take it on board, whereas James would just bluster through. This is probably why James was fired on his second boardroom appearance and Luisa made it to the final.

I'm disappointed by this news TBH, I wasn't really a fan of James last series. I think he might get far in CBB though as he will probably be the "joker" of the group and won't be afraid to make an idiot of himself in tasks. Girls will probably fancy him too.

I was really hoping for Steven, he would have been really interesting IMO, and he has said he would like to do CBB if asked. Or put Steven and Sarah in as a pair

I think Sarah would be awesome on CBB. Perhaps they approached her and she didn't want to do it. I think she is one of those candidates, similar to Katie and Luisa, who stands out for simply being herself, and for being thoroughly different to any other candidate who has ever been. There have been many people like James, and even Steven didn't seem especially unique. Sarah was uniquely watchable - despite being utterly hopeless on task, there was something really engaging about her as well. I feel like if she'd stayed a bit longer she could have been Series 10's Jason - he never really proved himself much on task (and like Sarah, had a dodgy PM win in Task 1) yet was incredibly popular with the viewers.

I doubt Sarah or Steven would be asked simply because they were eliminated so early and therefore aren't impactful or memorable enough to be asked, even though I'd agree that they'd be better entertainment value than James. James at least made it to the latter stages of the show and was on the whole probably the most memorable candidate of the series from an entertainment point of view, so if there is someone from last series on CBB, I'm pretty sure it would be him. I doubt he'd be asked though, if he was going to go on it it would have been last January's, as he doesn't have the impact Luisa had to remain relevant 8 months after the series finished, they'd probably only get him as a last resort if they're struggling for names.

James didn't exactly get to the late stages though, did he? He got slightly beyond halfway, and it was heavily implied that he'd have been out a lot earlier if certain Project Managers had brought him back. I consider the late stages to be at least Week 9 onwards if not later, certainly not Week 8. If they wanted someone memorable who got a significant way into the series, why not go for Daniel?

That's a fair point, I'd actually forgotten about Daniel somehow James for whatever reason just seems more like CBB material to me though - I guess because he's more of an out there character, and based on him on The Apprentice would have the potential to cause explosive scenes? Daniel was entertaining and garnered lots of discussion but I'd say he was a less of a dramatic character than James, and they tend to go for the more dramatic characters on CBB.

Fair point. I agree with you though, if they were going to go with him it would absolutely be as a last resort, because I doubt many remember him that well now.

Although actually, I would say that although for obvious reasons the longer a candidate stays the more likely they are to be memorable, I wouldn't say that's the case every time. I would say that despite being fired in Week 4, the most memorable candidate in Series 10 was Sarah. I don't think that James stood out that much, and he has been similar to many, many other candidates over the years. Even Steven was only notable in a couple of episodes - there were a few times he barely made the edit, and he didn't even have a PM stint, nor was he brought back for the final. If you think five years into the future, discussions between casual viewers about memorable won't involve those two, they'll involve 'that silly woman who wanted to chop the lemons'. If she was on it, it might actually tempt me over to CBB!

I would definitely say he was the standout character to have made it far IMO.

The only person I can actually remember from the last series of The Apprentice is James. I literally couldn't tell you the name of any of the others. He was the standout character of the series. Only other person I can remember is the Asian guy who got a huge bollocking in his interview during the final 5 stage...can't remember his name though. Blimey, I can't even remember who won it!

Really??? Wasn't a very memorable series for you then.

Off the top of my head:

Mark won it,
Bianca came second
Also-rans included Daniel, James, Sanjay, Katie, Scott, Miles, Felipe, Steven and the Northern Irish girl (name escapes me) etc. I think the Asian guy you refer to is Solomon.

James was a big character (just reminded myself of "Big Dawg"!!!) but i wouldn't say he was the standout. I recall him because of his floppy hair and very fit body . Aside from him, the very camp Steven was memorable (though he didn't last long) as was the rivalry between, who I consider to be the two biggest characters of the series, Mark & Daniel.

Either James, Steven or Daniel are perfect fodder for CBB.

I would say he is coming across very well. Much different to on The Apprentice.
Team James

He's certainly popular in CBB. Seeing him on The Apprentice I thought he'd be disliked, but to be honest, I always found him amusing!
