It was released as an instant grat from the new album 3 weeks ago and peaked at around #42 on iTunes. Don't think it's going to go much higher now tbh.

I personally much prefer the second instant grat single Like A River which was made available to download last Friday but hasn't really taken off on iTunes.

Radio stations and music channels need to start giving Like A River more airplay. It's the only way of making people aware that such a song exists.

Like a River isn't a single in its own right so it's not going to go to radio. It remains an album track that Will has done a video for and it's the video that's on sale I believe.

The next single is likely to be Thank You, another track that Will has performed acoustically on his radio tour.

I don't think these days that you can mention Will Young and chart in the same sentence unless it's in the past tense

I guess it depends which chart, as his last album was no. 1 in the album chart when it was released.

You get the track if you've preordered the album, otherwise you can buy the track as a download as well as the video.

Love Revolution won't chart, it hasn't been released with that aim.

I don't understand why, after a four year break, you wouldn't want your return to prove successful. A first single is generally considered an advert to an accompanying album.

The problem for me is "Love Revolution" just isn't that good, and it isn't a song i would ever have considered releasing as a single, if the choice had been mine, especially after a lengthy absence.

Well I might be wrong but none of the actions taken so far suggest a singles campaign.

Come on, the label have got to be disappointed that it's not charted. The lead single from his last album was a big hit.

Why are songs released with the aim of not charting?

I guess it's a way of getting your music out there and accessible in the media, not everyone has the luxury of massive radio airplay etc, Will hasn't had that for a long time and now with streaming included in the singles chart, it's practically impossible to get into the top 40.
Brandon Flowers seems to be using a similar aproach this time, he's got three songs doing the rounds at the moment with videos.
Hopefully it will help the album on it's release to garner more sales.

If Will released a song of the calibre of "Leave Right Now" again, it would soon climb the charts. It doesn't take more than one listen to conclude "Love Revolution" just isn't that good.

I agree it won't chart. In hindsight an oa/so strategy has been a huge mistake with Will being off the music scene for such a long time. Any artist needs the support of the big commercial stations to have a hit and Will hasn't had that support. Although I agree that Love Revolution isn't Will's best single there is far worse that receives AirPlay. Hope his album does ok but it is going to be really difficult without radio support.

There is a lot worse, i agree, but that really doesn't say much for "Love Revolution". I find Will a very difficult person to way up. He tends to speak in a friendly and polite way (he has impeccable manners), but there is always an underlying cockiness/smugness about him, almost as if he over values himself to such a degree, he feels "Love Revolution" will do, simply because he is on it.

This is very true.

Sadly these songs that are far worse are performed by younger acts and UK media probably think young people between 16-24 want to listen to music being produced by people of a similar age.

There are teenagers out there who actually enjoy listening to the music their parents liked, so you get 16 year olds listening to Stone Roses, Nirvana and The Beatles. In some cases even 10 seconds of Pitbull is too much.

"Dare" is an absolute dream of a song from start to finish, it was premiered on Graham Norton's radio show and it's on the deluxe edition of 85% Proof, I can't stop listening to it.

Actually I think that's unfair - cockiness is Miley Cyrus, Madonna or even Robbie. I seriously don't know how you can use that word for WY when most of the artists out there are on such a massive ego trip.

I'd like to take back what I said. The record came on the radio the other day and not knowing who it was and thinking it was an old Northern Soul record I Shazamed it and was really surprised it was him. Excellent song and good change of direction. Unfortunately it still won't chart.
