My views /positive thread on the Carter domination.
Hey I know people are sick of the Carters but not all of them are bad Linda is good in scenes away from her family and Nancy is good in scenes with Tamwar. Which of the cast who play the Carters do you all think can act? Which Carters would you keep if you were EP?
I know that people don't like the rape storyline but I think this interview is really good: Will Dean get a comeuppance? "I'm not going to answer that, because in real life a lot of people don't get a comeuppance. There will have to be a satisfying ending to the story, but it won't be what you expect. It would be very easy to just end it very quickly, and that's not what real life is like. "The easy and wrong way would be to have Dean arrested and taken off to prison. That's not what happens. There aren't trials. I'd love to have done a big trial - we won't be doing a trial." Also I liked this little interview as well: Dominic told Inside Soap magazine: “We’ve scripted the birth, which is suitably dramatic, of course! “But ultimately it’s not going to be all bleak for the Carter clan. The storylines we’re playing out on screen at the moment are heavy, but there will be some joy coming up for the family.” But Kellie admits it can’t all be easy for the Carters. She said: “It wouldn’t ring true if Mick and Linda’s relationship was all rosy after the revelations. “Of course it changes their partnership, and there’s her unborn child into the mix too. The Carters can be fantastic its just the screen time and repetitive scenes that need to stop but I bet it will stop soon it did with the Slaters and they dominated Eastenders from September 2000-2002/2003 they had so many storylines like Little Mo domestic violence storyline, Kat and Zoe storyline, Kat and Zoe fighting over Anthony, Lynne and Beppe storyline, Gary and Lynne splitting up because Laura thought Gary was the father of Bobby and Little Mo getting raped. The Slaters had 3 storylines in 2001, 1 storyline in 2002 and 3 storylines in 2003. Also the Mitchell's were quite dominant from 2007-2010 especially Ronnie and Roxy and Christmas 2008 and 2009 was about the Mitchell's and Stacey became dominant from 2009-2010. Also the Branning's were really dominant in 2012 and 2013. In 2003 and 2004 it was the Moon show and from September 2010-December 2011 it was the Moon show again. I don't want to go back to the days when the Mitchell's owned and lived in the vic and when the Moons were in the Vic so Im happy for the Carters to be in the vic until the day Queen Janine returns witch Scarlett and hopefully a new husband and hopefully becomes landlady of the queen vic or I wouldn't mind Stacey and Martin owning the vic and living there with Lily and Rebecca. |

There's already 3 Carter threads on here somewhere, I made a 'netral' thread and there's also a 'bashing' and 'worship' thread!

If j were ep I'd keep: Linda Shirley Tina Lee Nancy And bring back zsa zsa and Johnny. Dean also as a recurring prison/mental hospital role. Babe if I could find a long term way to keep her I would but I don't she she will and Same goes for slyvie. The main problem is their screentime and how prioritised their stories are. Mick's personality chance is also really annoying me to a point where even if he was used the same as everyone else I'd still find him unlikeable. Mick needs to go and the rest of the family work better away from him but he only works with them. Also if he does more characters can stay/join and be used on a equal scale. Dean clearly can't stay on as a regular so sent him to get his mental health sorted or make him kill mock and get sent down for that. |

I still like the Carters but my patience with the ongoing Dean drama is wearing thin. The truth needs to come out, he needs to leave permanently and Mick and Shirley need to reconcile so we can move on to some new storylines.

They are all fine as characters, it's just the endless repetition I utterly despise. They might as well reuse footage week in week out.

From the stuff I've seen they are too overexposed, also its the same thing over and over again, I don't watch for a couple of weeks, come back to watch and the plot hasn't moved at all. Since I don't watch regularly anymore maybe that's why i think they dominant too much.

I like the Carters I would keep them all but use them less and split them up more have them interact with other characters instead of constantly bickering with each other and please stop with the family meals where no one every eats and they always argue.

when they first arrived I thought they were ok but the constant overuse and the need by DTC to shoehorn them into every storyline that he can makes me want to switch off - which I had done btw only to switch back on last night and still have the episode dominated by blinking Carters!
at this point in time, I wouldnt keep any of them bar Shirley - just because she was there first and has a life outside her sodding family |

Lee can't act, the rest are good for soap standards.

The Carter's would be great without all the heavy drama, the rape story line and repetitive scenes.

I would happily say goodbye to Babe. She's so toxic. We haven't seen as much of Sylvie and I get that she's a vulnerable person but there are moments when I think she's faking and says something vile under the cover of oops I don't know what I'm saying.

![]() There all repetitive in nature, it don't feel like the plot has moved forward in 4 months. |

My opinion of the Carter's is they're so overused now I can't stand most of them and refuse to watch EE anymore. I should add they were great for 6 months and but since then it's all been too much.

I know people think its the Carter show and their screentime needs to be sorted out and the rape storyline needs to be sorted out but I like what Dom said back in the interview in October.
Will Dean get a comeuppance? "I'm not going to answer that, because in real life a lot of people don't get a comeuppance. There will have to be a satisfying ending to the story, but it won't be what you expect. It would be very easy to just end it very quickly, and that's not what real life is like. "The easy and wrong way would be to have Dean arrested and taken off to prison. That's not what happens. There aren't trials. I'd love to have done a big trial - we won't be doing a trial." I love it when Linda takes centre stage and I read this in Tv Choice magazine for Next week the week beginning the 11th May and because it involves Linda Im looking forward to it more. runs quitely away from here With Mick struggling to move on, Linda issues a shock ultimatum- so will he be around to support her when events take a shattering turn, or will she be alone in her hour of need? Im thinking she goes into labour. But I could be wrong. |

I've said it before on previous threads, but I don't actually have a problem with the Carters themselves, as I like them as characters, I'm just sick of seeing them in every single episode, Mick especially. Has there been an episode since the Carters arrived in the Square that he hasn't been in?
This is why I didn't like Lauren Branning - just like I felt she was, it feels like the Carters are literally being forced down our throats. Overexposure can kill in soap-land, in my opinion! |

What do people think by the spoiler? I think it sounds like Linda goes into labour.
