CS - Bethany calling Sarah a tramp
lollipop1995
28-04-2015
in last night's epsiode... I'm really surprised Sarah didn't reprimand her for that! All she does is laugh at her, she never disciplines her. It's no wonder Bethany acts the way she does. For the record, I like Bethany and find some of the stuff she comes out with hilarious but as for the "tramp" comment, if I was Sarah I'd be furious and tell her not to speak to me like that, not just giggle and chase her around the room!

Sick of Bethany's stupid annoying voice. I wish Nick would snap and beat her.

Then again Sarah is too busy getting wet over Callum.

Their whole return has been so disappointing. It had so much potential, too. I was expecting and looking forward to Sarah having had a Stacey Slater-esque leap in maturity. This is a woman of 30 or almost who was abducted by a paedophile, lost a child and was nearly murdered by Richard Hillman, then had to adjust to living in a new country and looking after her child with no family around her, learning a new language etc etc. Yet she acts like a particularly silly 12 year old.

Couldn't agree more.

She is worse than David, and that is funny because he is still quite not there, but at least he matured slightly with marriage and kids. But she has supposedly been raising Bethany on her own in Milan for over seven-years without Gail or Audrey to be there, yet has come back a lot more immature.

She was more mature when she was pregnant with Bethany at 13. So God knows why she's acting like a child now. It's ridiculous!

Sarah has never disciplined her in her whole life it would seem

Surely that's the point?

Sarah had Bethany at a young age. Their relationship supposedly isn't intended by the writers to be as mature as a normal mother and daughter one.

If the writers intend it to be a depiction of a dysfunctional upbringing and a neglectful and useless mother, that's absolutely fine. I do wonder if that's the case when we hear the comic lines they're giving Bethany though

I told my mum her new high heels make her look like a high class prostitute the other day. She just laughed and thanked me for saying high class.

Some people have casual relationships with their parents. My best friend is exactly the same with her mum too.

Wasn't it stated by Bethany before Sarah returned that her mother was neglecting her? So clearly that IS their intention.

I loathe Bethany, Sarah is much better on her own, it's been dire since these two returned.

If that's the case, perhaps we can expect fireworks when Bethany starts to go completely off the rails. It's slightly odd though that they're portraying Bethany as an almost comic character complete with one liners given how messed up her relationship with her mother is and bearing in mind she's only 14.

Bethany is a silly little brat that should be shipped off to boarding school.

The thing about Sarah and Bethany is that one of them acts like a schoolgirl, and the other one acts like she is old enough to drink alcohol.

They are being portrayed as more like sisters which does happen in real life when a mother has a child at a young age.

Personally I think they are both playing it well, glad to have Sarah back and Bethany is a breath of fresh air afyer some of the recent characters introduced,

Sarah has actually regressed as a character IMO. She is more immature now than when she left!

I'm enjoying Sarah but Bethany is not funny in the slightest. I find her very nasty.

The way Sarah just giggles and chases her round the room is embarrassing. Me and my parents joke/argue loads, but there's boundaries.

Yeah I'd like to see her kick her bratty arse.

With a producer like Blackburn behind the scenes, can you honestly say you're surprised?

After ruining Todd and making a shambles of Liz, I knew he'd do the same to Sarah & Bethany, and within weeks, not let me rephrase that DAYS, the character ruination kicked in again. Sarah was ripping off Callum's clothes and Bethany went from funny to OTT.

The endless 'Get rid of Sarah and Bethany comments' on Facebook prove this.

Even if Sarah just ignored her I wouldn't mind, but she full on giggled and started chasing her? Unrealistic.

Wasn't that an excuse because she'd been expelled from school and run away? In any case it's impossible to believe anything she says. I really can't see this as a serious exploration of an inadequate mother/daughter relationship since it seems to be played mainly for laughs.

I'm sorry but I don't see how they do. There's haters for every fictional character out there. Facebook only represents a very small minority of the show's audience.
