Another boring thread about Phil Mitchell
I thought the fórum would be inundated today with complaints about bloody Phil Mitchell!
![]() ![]() ![]() I thought I will start a thread on this, sorry if it appears boring and monotonous but I need to get it out there! What is this thing with EE and gangster plots and bloody Phil Mitchell! ![]() They can't do gangster plots, due to EE being on for about 29 minutes, and the fact it's a family show, so the most they can show is................well not a great deal really. So Phil is going to once again win and get one over on Max...... I did vomit slightly when Phil was talking to Dusty Springfield and saying "i want you on my firm " or something to that effect. What the hell! What bloody firm? It's so underwhelmingly unconvincing, and it's tedious to watch as well. So the writers reckon that the audience is taken in by phil and thinks that he has enough business to interest a lawyer who has "special" clients in her little black book? So why on earth would she be interested in a prat like him for.... ![]() ![]() And where is Keyser I thought he'd be frothing at the mouth by now....

Are we supposed to find him likeable? He's relentlessly repulsive these days. Shame as Phil is a soap icon and at one point actually had some depth.
I have a feeling they're playing to McFadden's ego, having Phil win all these feuds, but the alternative doesn't have to be someone beating Phil and making him look weak, just tell some different stories with him full stop. His character hasn't always revolved around abusing women and feuding with men. |

I think I might be the only one, but I like it when he wins the feuds. Maybe it is because I am a big fan of the mitchells.

Phil can do what he likes as far as I'm concerned. I was more perturbed by Max so readily taking his clothes off

The show would have had far more credibility and other hardcases, villains and alpha males would have been allowed to develop. That will never happen now. The show has been stuck in King Cockroach default setting since the turn of the century. |

![]() I actually quite like his body. although he could do with a tan ![]() I don't mind Max taking his clothes off, though why he did it in that scene is just ridiculous.....

The scene where Sharon and Phil finally kiss, whilst simultaneously knocking over a champagne glass on the bar, was actually imo one of the most sexiest soap kisses.... BUT NOW................... He's changed beyond belief, and I don't want to call him an icon anymore ![]()

I think Phil might be due a fall from grace soon, last time he was this vile to people he was shot by Lisa.

It's definitely got to be a woman who brings him down. He seems to get shot by women a lot, like Lisa and Shirley. TPTB or Steve McFadden would never allow a storyline where a man gets one over on Phil.
So maybe Sharon could shoot him this time. |

Sharon bringing him down could have been really interesting, and she had plenty motive, but they threw that away for a pointless love triangle which damaged all the characters involved. So I've given up. Phil can own the entire square forever. His feud stories are pointless.

I agree, Sharon destroying Phil would have been an interesting direction for both characters to go in. A shame they bottled in. Phil is now undisputed King of the Square, and Sharon is reduced to being his doormat.

I would like to see the return of drunk Phil. Phil was good last year but this year he has become unbearable. Like numerous other characters and storylines.

I agree, I would love to see a woman take him down. So far Shirley is the only one who has been able to get one up on him and get away with it - she knows what he is like and uses his misdeeds against him - she always has something over him!

There was so much potential if they had gone in that direction. As Chrissie said, Sharon is her father's daughter. The character was in desperate need of reinvention. The Ma Mitchell stuff is very small potatoes compared to a resurrected Sharon Watts. And seeing Phil spend some time working his way back would have been better than anything he's done since. Certainly this pointless flimsy plot with Max.
Sharon taking him down in 2014 would have been a great story for both of them, and it could have served as a fitting revenge for Phil's part in Dennis' death. Sharon shined as Ma Mitchell earlier this year, but she's back in doormat mode now. |

Every now and then the Mitchells need to be taken down a peg or two, and it hasn't really been done since Chrissie and Den Watts conned Sam out of the Vic in 2004. These days the Mitchells are invincible, which renders any 'feud' stories pointless. whatever happens you just know Phil will triumph in the end.

Oh I dunno, Lisa did a pretty good job. Maybe in this new regime it will be Shirley who is allowed to dethrone him again.
Shirley has been a threat to Phil, how much dirt does she have on him now?! That is if tptb allow him to be dethroned! ![]() Sharon needs to give Phil a kick up the backside too. |

I don't think he sees himself as one of the bad guys but someone who is defending his own interests and playing by his own rules. He despises anyone who doesn't think like him and thinks of them as a weak. This is something of a Mitchell trait.
It could get interesting now that Sharon has told him that she wants him to go straight. He was a complex character when he was introduced but he has become more of a one dimensional bully with only occasional hints of more depth. Sharon does bring out another side of him. Interestingly Phil does see Vincent as one of the 'bad guys' but we have yet to learn why that is. Presumably, one reason they have introduced Vincent is to provide Phil with a 'worthy' enemy rather than someone like Max. I would actually prefer if it was one of the good guys (or gals) who eventually puts Phil in his place rather than yet another villain. Unfortunately good often seems to be a synonym for weak in EastEnders. |

Me too. I was just waiting for Max to fail. Taking advantage of Ben was disgraceful.
Mind you that was his own son (as repulsive as Ben is) so big bad Philth gets a free pass. I just hate the sight of Ma Mitchell these days - she is so utterly pathetic when simpering around her lord and master it makes me puke. This is really great revenge for Dennis Sharon. Well done TBTB. |
