Reposting this from my post on the BT TV forum. Changes are afoot on BT TV!

When I reached the package and pricing pages in My BT on the website just now, checking what upgrade and channel options I had, I was fed a page headed:

"TV Starter" £0 a month (£19 activation)
Up to 70 Freeview radio & TV channels
Catch Up TV
Pause & Rewind Δ

"Entertainment Starter" £5 a month (£19 activation)
Up to 70 Freeview radio & TV channels
Catch Up TV
25 entertainment channels
Pause & Rewind Δ

"Entertainment Plus" £10 a month
Up to 70 Freeview radio & TV channels
Record TV
25 entertainment channels
TV Everywhere
Free activation

"Entertainment Max" £15 a month
Exclusive to existing TV customers
Up to 70 Freeview radio & TV channels
Record TV
25 entertainment channels
TV Everywhere
HD Extra included
Kids Extra included.

There is some new stuff about the Sports packages including BT Sport, mentioned £13.49 a month excluding SS1 & 2 so... oh, it does now say BT Sport is free with BT Infinity.

This ties in with a BT CS rep yesterday evening who told me that BT TV changes were on the way, he couldn't say what, and further incremental changes were planned after that. Anyway, they are making big changes to the website tonight and I got a sneak peek. Pause & rewind only, on the two base packages though? Must be Youview boxes, and Youview+ boxes, and it adds "Δ If choosing to switch to a recordable box, there will be a £35 box swap fee".

Overall it looks like a price rise for new Infinity users, though TV Essential is still available with recording, at £5 pm for BT broadband customers. I guess BT too have to pay for the football... <rolleyes>

Wonder what I will mean to me that's on the TV entertainment package and also has the HD extra bolt on.
Looking at the TV guide I don't see any new channels so I wander that the extra 5 channels are to the entertainment package.
Im the now getting TV entertainment at a £5 a month discount until start of Feb next year.

These new channels are not on my EPG yet, not that I am particularly excited by the prospect of them.

The new channels are Comedy Central Xtra, H2, MTV Music, Lifetime and Movies 24.
Thanks for mentioning the new channels, it was late when I posted and I forgot to check!

Still need more, such as the extra-cost footy channels (MUTV/Chelsea/Liverpool), so supporters jumping ship from Sky TV won't lose out next season.

All officially announced now in the BT TV forum. Glad I took up their £5 a month offering for TV Entertainment with a recording box, for 12 months earlier this year! So I won't be doubling my subscription to get the 5 new 'meh' channels, it would have been more tempting if HD was included in Entertainment Plus.

Seems crap that you have to upgrate your TV package for the new channels to apear on the Youview EPG.
I only renewed all my BT packages about 3 monthas ago.
Not sure if its worth me upgrading my package or not.

So the new FREE 'starter' pack costs £19 to activate? What exactly is there to activate?

It's basically an admin charge for setting it all up. Reduced from £35 for the two starter packages! Built in to the higher cost of the next package up.

I had to retune, twice, as it goes, as the first time took ages and only tuned the IPTV channels, but I have the new ones on my EPG. It's just the same as Sky Movies etc, you can see the listings but if you're not a subscriber, that's your lot!

I'm giving upgrading to the Entertainment Max package some thought. As it stands now, it's only £4.55 more than what I'm paying now for Entertainment + HD, and I'd get the five new Entertainment channels, TV Everywhere, which could come in handy in a few weeks when I go on holiday and the Kids channels, which I don't particularly need but would get a bit of use from when my daughters are over to stay.

I'm a bit sceptical of Entertainment Max being "exclusively" for existing Infinity customers though. But I suppose if you're switching from, say, Sky, and you want everything Max is offering (Entertainment + HD + Everywhere + Kids), you'd end up paying £16 a month, as the HD and Kids bolt ons are £3 each, while everything else is bundled into the next package down at £10.

So this exclusive deal for existing customers would save us a whopping £1 a month! Every little helps, as someone once said

If I was to upgrade from TV entertainment to entertainment Max I'm better to do it over the phone or online.

BT are just doing what Sky have don't for years with there Sky go and include it as part of a TV package.
I would have liked one or two more channels like Discovery and Fox added to the TV anywhere app.
BT have made a start in trying to improve there TV offering I think.

So for £5 extra per month you get this:

MTV Music
Movies 24
Lifetime
H2
Comedy Central Extra

Presumably they have plans to add more channels to this "plus" package because frankly, the current new offering is not worth the extra cost. These channels are not premium and should obviously be a part of the standard package.

PS - I am not moaning because I want these channels, I dont actually want them. I pretty much only watch on demand stuff these days. Simply these 5 channels are not premium.

price of channels and bolts on ...
Channel's £7.50
HD £3.00
Kids £3.00
BT TV Anywere £5.00
= £ 18.50
So £15.00 deal for customers gives you the news channels for free and saves you £3.50

The new package come with a newish service called TV Everywhere which cost £5 by it self as a bolt on sounds great to see Your TV channels anywhere .....
It shame that BT has not made Microsoft app only OS 6 and Android 4.2 above but yet make 5.0 which is coming along now.
The channels list that play on the software is NOT all channels that BT TV has which is a shame , can anyone tell me when all channels will be there so it matches what you pay for on the Youview box ??
