A chilling line Dean made in 2007
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcAP...0&spfreload=10
Jump to 2:00, Dean said: "You can't let a girl deprive you of what's rightfully yours." Obviously back then he wasn't a rapist, but listening to this line and knowing that he was going to rape someone eight years later, is very chilling! Maybe he's always had a rapist streak? |

Jump to 2:00? What does that mean?
I think Dean changed after he was attacked in prison. Did he make the comment after he came out? |

There was a strong implication at the time that he was. His first stint in prison, not this recent one.

Prison did change Dean, I think he had an unhealthy attitude towards some woman anyway but it was prison that really brought it out of him, the huge change when he came out of prison where he hired a prostitute, attacked his mum and disappeared was quite a personality shift.

There was also Dean's nonchalant attitude to spiking Stacey's drink.

Almost as chilling as when Lucy Beale said she "would never touch drugs".

It was Sean who shaved off some of Chelsea's hair. I think that's what you were referring to

I wish the writers had done a better job at tying Dean's previous disturbing behavior to his actions since he returned. I'm of the mind that turning Dean's character into a rapist was a really interesting move that seemed to have roots in his previous character development. It seemed as though that was being done initially, with references to his stint in prison and his treatment of Shirley after his release, but nothing has been mentioned in this regard for quite a while. I'm not entirely sure what has changed. Matt di Angelo plays creepy very, very well, so why don't they let him?

Good point. The development was good continuity, why not emphasise that by tying it together better. Especially since his earlier actions were so long ago, surely loads of people will have forgotten/not been watching.

I'd forgotten what a terrible actor Matt was back then. He's better now imo.
