For once not even going to moan about the Carters bad enough seeing them every episode lol. Anyway with Kat and Alfie leaving I guess in late summer and having there own spin off. After that's screened next year will they actually be coming back to Eastenders or is this it are they leaving for good.

DTC has said they will "be gone for a long while" whatever that means. I hope Kat returns, she is one of EE's best characters and I think she'll be a loss. It says a lot about the character and Jessie Wallace how many people have said they're enjoying her current storyline despite the fact it's usually shoved into the background or off camera completely so we can see endless boring Shirley and Mick scenes.

It sounds like Kat and Alfie will leave soon until their spin off next year, which will explore their new life in Ireland, but I get the impression that events in that show will send them back to Albert Square.

It could be that the last episode of the spin-off show sees Kat and Alfie leaving Ireland to head back to Walford, and the next episode of EE following that could feature their return.

I reckon they'll be on a 12 month break on the main show, They'll probably leave in August 2015 as Shane Ritchie said that him and Jessie were filming a big storyline from January to June 2015, I also think that they will be on a 12 month break from August 2015 and that they'd be back around July or August of 2016.

I really, really hope that's what happens. Can't stand Alfie but Kat is one of the best EE characters ever, even though she's been ruined in recent years. The current storyline shows how good she should be...bad move if she's gone for good I think.

Your suggestion makes a lot of sense. DTC mentioned (1) they are leaving very soon and (2) they are gone for a long while. Assuming the spin off is on in November, that means they'l have been gone from EE for 6 months i.e. "a long while."

Agree with you, Kat is such a great character, one of only a few who can carry really strong stories entirely on her own shoulders - one of EE's best ever and Jessie Wallace is wonderful. The current story is great and hopefully reminds people what a Star she is. Kat will be back, I'm sure. DTC knows how great Jessie is.

I hope they don't come back. In fact I wish they never came back in 2010 either. Clearly the writers have nothing more to say about these characters as they've been going round in circles for the past 5 years. Goodness knows how an entire series will be created around them when the writers can't even come up with an original idea for them in EastEnders.

I'm loving Kats current story. However it all feels like the end of an era for Kat and Alfie.

I reckon the spin off could well be just a catch up before saying goodbye for good

Please don't give Dominic Treadmill Collins bad ideas. The important thing is that they don't ever come back, ever. We don't want them.

There's no suggestion that they're not coming back as of yet.

I am interested in what happens to them in Ireland.
It must be something to big to warrant six hour long episodes of a spin off.

Any previous spin off were only one hour long episode.

Doesn't it depend how well the spin off goes? Presumably if it goes well they will stay on that for a second series rather than coming back to EE.

Never thought I'd see an EastEnders universe. Hope they can tie it in to the Marvel universe somehow

I do not mind them returning. I think a break from Kat and Alfie on screen is a good idea though, considering how the characters have both been overused.

I wouldn't agree they have been overused at all, if anything people have been complaining that they haven't got enough screentime after Kat's suicide attempt because DTC thought we wanted to see Mick and Shirley have the same conversation for the hundredth millionth time.
