Why doesn't david let callum have max for a weekend?

Why doesn't david have max ready with a case when callum does his pop-in bit on a Friday? "Here, he's yours for the weekend. Back on Sunday at 6pm prompt".

It's clear there's no reason on earth why callum would actually want Max - I fear we might be leading up to an offer from callum that david should buy max! Would that make it the second or third time he's been sold?

I would give the kid what he wants and hand him over to Callum then we can be rid of them both

Erm.... Because he's a revolting drug dealer.... perhaps?

He's reformed. He clearly has given it up, since he spends all his time on the street, waiting for sarah to come out and play.

Anyway, I very much doubt whether callum would ever take up the offer. Max is eight, and he has had absolutely no interest in him (if I remember correctly) since before he was born. For some totally unknown reason his sole motive is to annoy david.

Because Callum is a nasty drug dealer?

I understand what the OP is saying. Callum wants to be a Dad on his terms. If he had to look after Max 24/7 for a couple of days he'd get fed up with having to curb his behaviour around a child.

I think Callum would solve this though by dumping the kid on his mother while he went out drug dealing and threatening people.

Bet if David dumped Max on him for the summer holidays and he was made to look after him 24/7 the novelty of playing dad would soon wear off. Can't see bad, menacing drug dealer Callum would want a kid in tow ruining his hard man drug dealer image

Drug dealer and would be gangster , no parent would let their kid be with someone like that

Because weekends don't exist in Corrie land.

Would like to see Callum actually get Max to bed, get him to school in the morning, have actual responsibility. Not just have a kick about or turn up to give him a present before going off to stalk Sarah.

I agree. It's not like David hasn't done anything dodgy anyway

David nearly killed Bethany when he was dealing.

Poor kids screwed either way.

Pity it didn't finish her off.

But when David does something bad, he has a motivation for it and you can sympathise with him. You can't sympathise with Callum.

David doesn't do anything evil unless it's as a last resort. Callum deals drugs for the sake of drug dealing.

Cos Callum would probably get his son hooked on drugs during that weekend

The writers haven't given callum any depth so we don't know if he has any motivation

In answer to the question its because Callum got David's wife, Max's mother hooked on drugs again and split up his family

I don't think he's supposed to have any.
