Will Miley Cyrus have a lasting music career?
SpaceCake

Do you think Miley Cyrus will last in the music industry or will Bangerz be her peak? The album has sold a million copies in the US to date, but elsewhere its sales haven't been that strong. Despite Wrecking Ball and We Can't Stop hitting number one on the U.K. singles chart Bangerz has only sold 100,000 copies in the U.K. to date, that's far less than Katy Perry and Rihanna. A lot of the European dates on the Bangerz Tour weren't sold out and also received mixed reviews.

Miley seems to divide people in a similar way to other pop stars like Madonna, Lady Gaga and Rihanna. Do you think she has what it takes to last?

I don't. Her attempts at trying to prove how grown up she is is predictable, old hat and desperate. She's all show and little-to-no substance. She's lucky that she got hold of Wrecking Ball. Her material is completely average and forgettable. Most other pop stars, even the most controversial ones, have some likeability, but she has none, just arrogance.

I think she can if she stops trying to imitate madonna, britney and rihanna and find her own paty

Does she want one? Or is she happy to be 'Famous'

UK success is nice, but it's not that hard for a US star to have a career that doesn't extend to the United Kingdom.

If a secondary market is even necessary at all, the Asian markets (Japan, Korea, China) are probably more important to reach these days than the UK, or even Europe overall.

I think the problem is Bangerz literally only had We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball as stand out hits, I bought it and honestly the other songs were awful except for maybe Drive and Adore You but neither of those were in the league of the first two singles. And the name Bangerz was awful, I bet that put a few people off buying it. She has the potential, is she releasing anytime soon?

Personally I though the album was great

Really? I dunno, I was expecting a good mix of party songs and then more emotional ones like Wrecking Ball. But it just seems quite hip-hop, or something. I think it's slightly over produced too. Perhaps I should listen again actually, maybe I was just initially disappointed there wasn't more We Can't Stop/Wrecking Ball type songs on to see beyond that!

Shes been near the top for 8 years thats a pretty good run in this day and age

Her 6 albums have been top 5 in the USA, including 3 that reached #1
7 top 10 singles in the USA

Bangerz is far from her peak sale wise as her debut sold 4M in the US alone

I think the album was actually extremely good.

if in 1984 the question was asked "do you think madonna will have a lasting career"... the answer would have been no...

the same for kylie in 88

and so on.

of course there are plenty who we thought would have longevity and who havnt. its entirely possible that if she choses to, she could.

She will if she switches it up a bit

She needs to change her image and behaviour a bit. If she is still shaking her bum and sticking up tongue out by the next album, it will just be covering old ground. I didn't mind it for the Bangerz era but I don't want to see it again for the next era.
