What is it he does for a living ? I've forgotten. Is it something where he might get smelly, like an artist using turps a lot or something like that ?

I think there is definitely something in the smell. Maybe it is McClaren? He looks like a smart guy who probably wears cologne. Kathy has after all not been specific about what he smells of so it doesn't have to be anything unpleasant. I quite like the idea of it being Viv's husband who probably smells of alcohol. The CSI chap is a bit odd though and after all it was him who set up the whole things at the bowling alley. Could have been it was all staged with tattoo man who is his partner in crime. Not sure what he would smell of but it could be chemicals of some sort as he looks like his clothes could do with a good wash!

Will Mellor looks to be in the frame on the basis his part is smaller than what you might expect from such a well-known actor but is growing each episode. Has he sat in on any of the interviews with the cat-phobia girl yet or otherwise got close to her?

I think it will be Vivs husband who is behind it all.
There are just lots of tiny scenes where the husband is there. The scene a few weeks ago where the husband and Patrick passed each other on the stairs and glanced at each other. Then in this week´s ep Cathy turns up at Viv´s house and walks right past the husband and says she never saw the face of the man who raped her. Plus it would make sense that he knew a lot of what was going on in the case from overhead converstations of Viv and what Viv might have told him too. Maybe he gleaned some info during his night in the cells ... Plus his height and shape match the man on the camera. I agree the smell thing is significant, not sure what he´d smell of though! Possibly cooking ... wasn´t there something right back at the beginning where he was cooking for Viv but she was late ... Thought it was another great ep this week, I´ll really miss this when it´s finished ... |

As I read it things look totally set up for it to be Spike.
Still enjoying it but sometimes it feels 'fast-paced' for the sake of it. I'm older though. |

Really hope it's not Viv' s husband, too much like Broadchurch. Also hope it's not Spike he seemed to affected when he thought he had made a mistake letting that man go and kill Theresa.

Especially what Viv did with the file. |

I do think it's rather pretentious and far fetched.
But I am enjoying in nevertheless. |

I was convinced it was going to be the husband but didn´t expect her to cover for him. Given that all the way through the series she´s been portrayed as so strong in her convictions in going for the bad guy it doesn´t really seem to match the character. I´m assuming she´s confused and maybe guilty she didn´t see it before and will come good in the end.
I didn´t quite get how she made the connection ... what was the significance of the tune he was playing as she realised he was the man Patrick knew? |

The guy next door to the flat was playing it at the beginning of the episode, when they arrived to search.
And then she heard the husband playing it. It would have been a huge coincidence if there was no link. I can't remember how they were led to that flat in the first place though. |

Its a bit weird alright, I avoided the "NEXT ON...." teaser. Maybe Viv is going to come up with a way to knock her husband off without anyone being able to figure anything out.
What was the music? I know it so well but can't place it. |

I don't think so - I think the doctor had made her husband's life a misery and she was punishing him.

There was a lot to take in this week. I did like the reveal. Even though he was my fav suspect it was nicely drawn out and there was a lot of suspense this week. So are they suggesting he murdered his sister as a child and that started his pattern? Dark!

I'm also not 'buying' Viv and the cover up, doesn't chime with what we know of her, I'd rather expect her to get angry, lose the plot and somehow leak it so that he'd get a severe or fatal kicking, before the Police could get to him. Maybe she's going to reveal what she knows only to him when he's abroad on Tour, then he can go on the run, hopefully never to be seen again. Shame we couldn't have got more of the 'case of the week' the various players involved there could have produced some good stuff, interesting characters. |
