Liked it too ... Although wasnt expecting too .... My main issue was i couldnt seem to understand half the dialogue and i felt like id literally lost the plot or some of it was missing anyway .... But despite that found it strangely enjoyable ....

I thought it was a bit dumb. But I really enjoyed it actually. I will watch it again next week. Only wish I could understand what they are talking about half the time. I don't get the slang.

Well I have never watched Shameless so cannot make any comparisons. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the characters especially the woman in charge. It was outrageous and funny and had a good storyline. I am looking forward to the next episode.

It took me some time to get into it and I am not certain about what I watched.

It wasn't too bad. To be honest I wasn't expecting too much from the trailer but it was better that I thought it would be.
It was a bit cliched, at times I couldn't understand what the were saying, it wasn't the a cent, just the fast speaking and the mumbling. It felt like it wasn't sure when to be comedy and when to be drama, it felt too script led rather than character led. |

Is that decrepit police station accurate? Surely a major police force like GMP isn't operating stations that dilapidated?

so if the serial killer plot is going to continue alongside a crime of the week format (which is what i can gather..?) i have crazy theory that the killer might be the older police officer (no idea what any of their names are as i agree with the mumbling and the first episode did seem a bit overly complicated) who suggested that he knew where the victims were being held as his daughter lived nearby - and then later the boss said how did he mange to elude us, how did he know we were coming and the mystery of who put the flyer on the front desk saying Cathy (?) was missing when none of her family even realised she was? He might just be playing games with them while being part of the team??

Not sure if I will watch tonight. To echo similar points made in the thread already, it seemed to be vulgar for the sake of it.
The characters were not believable for it to be viewed as a drama, nor was the program funny enough for it to be a parody or comedy. If black humour was intended it wasn't clever enough. Fell flat for me. |

Still loving it. The cast are all great. One of the few shows on TV atm I'm actually waiting impatiently for the next episode to come round. I think the last programme I felt like that about was Happy Valley.

Its a curio style wise, it shares that with Babylon also on Channel 4, that started as if it wasn't entirely sure of its own bearings but grew into a great series I thought. Hopefully No Offence will do likewise.

Hells teeth 2 posts for the second episode, DS needs some new blood or the lurkers need to pipe up a bit.
Anyway about 30 minutes into my recording, this is going along at a cracking pace, started well to. I've had to use the subtitles in places, which doesn't always work on my PVR as it jumps occasionally, so things go out of synch. People bunny away sometimes too quick and mumbly, e.g. Oddbod Social worker woman, Dr Bo Peep as I've just found out. |

I'm still enjoying it. Didn't have a problem with what people were saying last week but struggled with the psychologist/psychiatrist? this week, she spoke too fast when talking to Dinah. I don't usually have any problems understanding people talking fast.

I agree with others that it's been difficult to pick up the names of the characters.
I can just about remember the Polish one, Kolwoska because of the similarity to another actress' name. Also Spike just becasue it's easy to remember. |

Yeah, the 'she jabbered like a flightless bird' a good line lost when I had to turn the subtitles on and go back again to catch it.
Not a bad episode, I am liking the main character - Viv - she seems to be the only comedic type role there, with the odd one liner chucked in by the uniformed officers. The show reminds me The Bill with Viv as the DI Burnside (yeeeears before its end) character. Still not sure if it's one that I'll tune in every week but the 2nd episode was better than the first IMO. Quote:

I really enjoyed the second ep but i do find it bizarre that i still cant understand half of what they are saying. dinah's Irish accent was more noticable too this week - which didnt help. It does make it difficult to work out what is going on and like last week I felt like I'd missed some of the plot .... But despite all that i still really liked it which i put down to the pace, good stories and interesting characters ....

Those armed response officers were awful, swiftly changed the tone from Series 1 of Shameless to Series 4.

Well I am still enjoying it and love the madness of all the characters and the situations they get themselves into. I am looking forward to the next episode.

No, there doesn't appear to be a great deal of interest in this. I didn't think much of episode one, but I was going to give the second episode a try. Then the disappointment of Safe House put me off. There are only so many hours of my week I'm prepared to waste on stuff of so little merit.
Perhaps with a few more positive reviews I'd give it another go, but it doesn't seem to have captured much of a following. I wouldn't take the reactions on here to mean bugger all about any program, it's such a minuscule sample. Even a relatively active thread on here can be the same 20 people chuntering about F'all, some bit of minutia. I've seen threads get to 3 pages before it's even aired and not make another page when the first episode has been broadcast, lots of pi$$ing on chips/parades on here. |

Watched the first two episodes back to back and really enjoyed it. A good mix of dark humour and drama.

I sometimes had some problems understand what one of the female detectives was saying. She had a peculiar accent and spoke rapidly and to my mind sometimes incoherently.
Acting's not just about remembering a lot dialogue and getting it out. |

The three female leads are all trying to do a manc accent. Two of them are Irish. One of them the character also has Polish? roots.
None are overly convincing but I guess the general NW accent is there. Must be easier for others in the cast who are from the area or not bothering. Colin Salmon is using his generic Brit accent. Ritter seems to be using his own accent. |
