First episode I wasn't sure, second episode and I think it's likely I won't make it to the end of the series. Which is a shame as I really liked the early series of Shameless but this has none of the charm, humour or heart.
I'll give it one more episode but I'm not hopeful of any improvement

I sometimes had some problems understand what one of the female detectives was saying. She had a peculiar accent and spoke rapidly and to my mind sometimes incoherently.
Acting's not just about remembering a lot dialogue and getting it out. It's somewhat interesting. |

I found the psychologist woman almost impossible to understand. I've lived in Manchester before and never struggled so much as with this programme. It's got such a good cast but the whole thing fell flat for me.

I enjoyed the 2nd ep more than the 1st. Thought there were some funny and touching moments.

I'm liking it, albeit finding both endings a bit disappointing.
One question: If the murderer was planning on posing the deaths of these girls as drowning accidents (which I believe was suspected until the police noticed a pattern), why did they cover Cathy in a bodybag? |

The three female leads are all trying to do a manc accent. Two of them are Irish. One of them the character also has Polish? roots.
None are overly convincing but I guess the general NW accent is there. Must be easier for others in the cast who are from the area or not bothering. Colin Salmon is using his generic Brit accent. Ritter seems to be using his own accent. |

I saw Alex on Channy Man and for some reason thought she was Irish. |

I just caught up with Episode 2 on the All 4 "on demand" app and had to keep pausing and going back to try and work out what the hell was being said a lot of the time. When I don't hear even a short piece of dialogue, I find it really hard to follow what comes after. So I came on here to see if I could fill in the gaps in my understanding and seems a lot of you are struggling to follow as well.
I found the whole house raid confusing because I managed to miss what their plan was. I had no idea who "Bo Peep" was until near the end, and I can't decide whether Dinah is supposed to like her colleague who just got promoted or not. Also, what was the scene about with Spike and Viv outside a room in the hospital, when he said something about a cup, and why was it so shocking Viv was advised not to enter but she sent the senior officer in later? Having said all that, I think I'll be watching tomorrow. May try subtitles if they are accurate. |

Joy (newly promoted) and Dinah are friends; Joy said something about not being able to sleep at Dinah's as she'd done for years? due to her taking the young girl in. But I don't think Dinah rates her much as a DS, or rather knows she herself would've been a lot better as a DS.
I thought Dinah was slagging Joy off when she went for a massage with Viv, hence I wondered if she didn't actually like her. I guess you are right, though, about being friends really. Cheers. |

Watched first episode, not too impressed, watched second, gave up after 15 mins.
The script and over- acting is terrible and there just isn't enough story to grab you and make you want to keep watching. Very poor. |

I have to agree that it is not as good as the critics are saying it is. Not helped by some of the support actors gabbling their lines incomprehensively.

Maybe people are put off because it's neither one thing nor t'other - the occasional laugh out loud moment, and then very dark. But it's carrying me with it - when the next girl went missing tonight, I actually gasped. So yeah, I like it because it's weird, quirky and funny. |

I love this show. A fresh new cop show on 4. With decent Actors and characters, I look forward to it every week.

Not strictly relevant but a friend of mine worked on a couple of episodes of this series as supporting artist and apparently Will Mellor was an absolute nightmare to work with... constantly late to production, stroppy with crew, and always breaking off production demanding food... so it's rather coloured my opinion of him whilst I've been watching unfortunately.
It's certainly no Shameless, but I do love Jo Scanlan so she's been a shining light in this really... |

Just finished my +1 recording of it, jumped out before the 'next week on...' got too far.
I'm still liking this for all the reasons mentioned since my post above, the dialogue was a little better this week, had to use the subtitles in places due to the PVR skipping again and to make sure I understood everything that was said. Hopefully we'll get some more of the Dinah/Family and Cathy relationship, they've taken on a teenager after all, who was the bloke in her kitchen btw? Good storyline this week too, enjoyed Joy doing her thing at long last, good character. Get the feeling all of them could make for interesting characters given a chance. |
