I really think Emmerdale and Eastenders are way ahead at the moment. It's dis improved so much recently. Losing Deirdre too has been a big loss. If it continues to be like this ITV could axe it. More drama less comedy characters.

You think that a 55 year old program is suddenly going to get dropped? Sure it's not been great at the moment, but let's think about things logically. They'll just replace Stuart Blackburn eventually.

Corrie will still be going strong when it's 100 years old! ITV won't axe Coronation Street. It's probably it's most important show after the football World Cup. I can see the current executive producer being axed though. The current crop of actors will likely change but the likes of Gail, David, Sally and Tracey are safe. Ken Barlow will stick around until he either passes away or becomes too frail. Some of the characters are so boring ie Andrea and Lloyd plus Eileen. The cast needs revamping and I agree that there needs to be less comedy. Sally is great though and putting her with Tim has really worked well. They have great chemistry. I don't care much about Chesney and Sinead even with the accident story. Steve's depression just doesn't work. I can't put my finger on why, I just don't like it.

Corrie is the jewell in the itv crown it's going nowhere.

The state of Corrie is exaggerated ratings are healthy still plenty of long termers on the show to fill the void left by Deirdre.

The same things were said about EE a few years back, Soaps have highs and lows it takes time to turn around but such long running programs and brands will not be dropped so easily.

Wouldn't that be Downton Abbey?

No, Downton has had 5 series, the 6th will be the last. Dramas on ITV come and go, Corrie is without doubt ITV's long running top show. It won't be axed.

The show is surprisingly getting 6-7m, and is the highest rated soap when it's on. I doubt it'll be axed.

I've always wondered (same with the other soaps) how they'd end it if it did get the chop...

Corrie isn't gong anywhere, a new producer will come in and turn things around.

It is arguably the worst it has ever been but so was EE pre-DTC and look at it now.

I don't think it's the worst it's ever been but not far off.

It seems to have lost it's spirit and it's way in protracted stupid story lines and old characters on "leave". It's become so annoyingly disjointed. Are there too many characters now compared to the past? I have no idea. I can't stand the whole Sarah and daughter tripe, and the drug dealing idiot. That whole story is being painfully dragged out because Kylie is also on leave.

For a while now I've preferred Emmerdale to Corrie which has never happened before.

Apart from anything else, Corrie is a big moneymaker for ITV. Apart from the advertising revenue, it is sold to over thirty countries worldwide. They would look to replacing Blackburn rather than axing the golden goose.

I love corrie but lately its the same story going round and round. Thought when Kylie left we would have a break from the Platts (ie David) but hes in every episode. Cant he have a holiday !
Kylie gets on your nerves too, not looking forward to her coming back. The young actors are poor. Eastenders child actors are much better.
Kirk, Chesney,Sinead, Sarah, Bethany and the like need a cull. Hoped the mini bus crash would get rid of them but no such luck.

No it won't be as it can be saved and is somehow just on top of the ratings. It does need a lot of work though and to axe a lot of characters. Most of the older characters have become stale whilst new arrivals have been very poor. A new EP coming in very soon is needed though or even the default audience will turn off.
