Hollyoaks Dylan and his school uniform etc
Pink_Smurf

Surely Dylan wouldn't get away with his make up, facial piercings, earrings / ear spike, Mohican hair dyed black and bright blue etc at school? Also he wears a variation of his uniform and with more jewellery. Is Patrick scared of Trevor so he won't address Dylan's appearance at school? How does he get away with it? I'm liking his latest storyline with him wearing Grace's clothes and jewellery. How will he explain to Trevor what he was doing stealing a dress? I bet he'll say he stole it for Nico. He's bound to get caught by Trevor wearing something belonging to Grace soon. I like the actor. His facial expressions, especially in scenes with Nico are very well done. He's a great young actor.

I like him too. He's the only one of the young actors I do like. My thought was that no school bully would dare bully Trevor's son.

This is the least of HO's problems.

Given that kids at the school are getting pregnant willy-nilly, raping teachers on-site, and trying to crash fire engines into the building, I should think Dylan's hair is the least of Patrick's worries ...

A good young actor, and the bullying reminds me of my horrific school days.

it depends on the school. The school I went to (it was a good school and the principal was VERY strict) didn't bat an eyelid at anything like that. One student in particular a couple of years below me would dye her hair several crazy colours once every few weeks and had numerous piercings - the teachers nor principal didn't care about any of that as long as the students were behaving themselves and performing well in exams. However, our uniform had to be correct and several students were reprimanded for not wearing the correct school shoes. The principal used to often call into rooms where roll call was being taken to carry out uniform inspections

At my school you weren't obliged to wear school uniform except if you were a prefect, or for special occasions like prizegiving, or if you were representing the school at something like the county sports or a school choirs festival.

I never realised but we could get a nice scene between Dylan and Esther with Esther sharing her experience, seeing as they live together

Remember this is Kirkwood's Hollyoaks, continuity isn't exactly the shows strong point.

Experience of being bullied, you mean?

I thought the same thing.
Spoiler
I think Trevor finds him wearing Grace's clothes and jewellery and "disowns" him. Hopefully Trevor will come round to accept his son as he is.

Is that wise? "It's tough going, Dylan, but I learned to be best friends with the surviving bully. In a few years, you and Aiden and Kyle will be great mates ... if they're still alive."

There is soapland and there is la-la land. Hollyoaks is firmly located in la-la land.

I have been thinking that since Dylan's first day, HH isn't just any school, it's Patrick Blake's school. But soaps do whatever they want by having characters ignore, forget or just not care.

I am thinking Esther gets called about the theft today, Trevor is out of the country, Grace is in jail, so Esther will get the call. Dylan will try to pretend that it was for Nico and maybe even thinks he get away with it, but Esther will get suspicious, however she wont push him.

It does seem to vary by school and maybe even somewhat by student. At around Dylan's age I was having a goth phase so wore a lot of spiky/chain jewellery and whatnot, but my uniform was always correct otherwise. I was a well behaved and unusually quiet kid so they let me do what I wanted in that respect. I got the feeling a rowdier kid might not have got away with it.

I do agree that Patrick wouldn't have it though, he'd never relinquish control over such a thing, or anything if he could possibly help it. But this is Oaks, we can't expect anything to make sense or be consistent.

I see that some kids have been suspended from school for coloring their haira type of orange/ginger or even for wearing a type of earring.Teachers in some area`s of the country have their hands full with kids wanting to do what they like simply because mammy or daddy (if he is still around) let their kids do anything.
I am fed up with reading story`s of kids expelled from school for the tings I mention above.
School are there for kids to learn and just as important to learn respect. Some parents want to take a long look at themselves and think why pass on my bad education to my kids.
