Since it's move to Channel 5 the vast majority of Irish households haven't been able to watch Big Brother. Sky users could watch it but only through the 'Other Channels' service.

Until now! TV3 (the second largest channel in Ireland) has picked up the rights to broadcast this series.

Big Brother brought back to Irish screens as TV3 get ready to broadcast new series
The new series airs May 12 at 10pm on TV3

TV3 will air this years series of Big Brother for the first time ever – airing over 200 hours of the hit Channel 5 series across TV3, 3e and 3Player.

The launch of Big Brother: Timebomb kicks off on Tuesday May 12 at 9pm on 3e with a simulcast on TV3 from 10pm-11pm.

The spin-off series Big Brother’s Bit On The Side will air nighty on 3e straight after the main show.

“As the new Director of Content for TV3, I am delighted to announce the return of Big Brother UK to Irish screens,” TV3 group director of content Lydia McQuaid.

“Big Brother and all its spin-offs are large, explosive, constantly evolving, creatively vibrant television properties that appeal to a varied cross section of the audience and will find a perfect home on TV3 and 3e.”

The deal will also see TV3 broadcast Celebrity Big Brother with the celeb series scheduled for Autumn and January 2016.

Big Brother has seen a host of Irish housemates in recent years with model Hazel O’Sullivan shooting to fame following her stint on the 2013 series.

This years series will see a Mad Men style theme running throughout the house while Big Brother will play with time during tasks and have secret missions to stir up tension between the housemates.

Words cannot express how fantastic it is to be able to record Big Brother again - no need to stay in every night to watch it live on Channel 5. Pure and utter bliss!!

Does that mean they'll be allowed to vote in evictions again? About time we had some Irish HMs. I think Hazel is the only one there's been on Channel 5.

Hopefully BB will get the Irish viewers - I think they should after the success of the last few CBB's and the publicity generated.

I would expect so. Irish viewers are already allowed vote on XF and BGT.

I wouldn't become too 'cited Dave, you'll only get around 43/45 minutes of footage each night. You'll maybe, if your lucky, get the odd 43/45 minutes of 'LF' once in a blue moon.
If you haven't seen CH5's offering before, I suspect you may be in for a shock!
