Just heard that Alison King, one of the best actresses in the show is apparently leaving for"creative reasons". Presumably the badly written storylines, awful scripts and clunky dialogue have played a part, when is something going to be done about it? Ratings are falling, and for good reason! It's practically unwatchable these days, reminiscent of what Eastenders was like a few years ago actually.

A ballsy new prdocuer is needed with the guts to axe the deadwood in then cast. Anthony Cotton being number one on the list, I dont care if he knows where the bodies are buried, he's usless and needs to go. Others who need to go are Michelle,Maria, Chesney, that awful new Asian family, Fizz and Izzy.

Oh and sto casting celebrities just because they are celebrities, case in point Sarah Harding. Just why when there are lots of talented jobbing actors out there looking for a break?

It's time for the powers that be at ITV to start listening to what viewers want.

BIB: Very presumably. In fact there's absolutely no indication whatsoever that Alison King's decision has anything to do with the state of the show. She's worked incredibly hard over the last few years and has had tons of screentime. Maybe she feels it's time to try something different for a while and take a break from Carla.

Agree with everything you've said there although I'd add a lot more to the list of cast members who need to leave.

Yeah ITV really needs to 'do something' about the consistently highest rated programme on television, week in, week out, for decades.

A pat on the back is probably what they'll decide on.

They should, but they won't..

1. New blood needed at the Rovers. McDonalds and moocher Michelle are stale. I like Tony, but why have they decided to pair him up with Tracyluv???

2. What's the purpose of Underworld? Outsource it.

3. Axe, axe, axe.

4. Cut back to four or even three episodes a week.

But she had a break not long ago and returned a few years ago

Still being ahead of the rest doesn't negate the fact it has lost a lot of viewers in a short space of time. The gap between it and EastEnders (its closest rival) was a lot bigger less than two years ago.

Corrie's doing fine at the moment.
Every so often C/s seems to go on a decline and then it bounces back on on top form again....whether this is due to the S/L..the characters..the writers or the producer at the time I don't know..but it never stays at the bottom for to long before it's at the top again

Let's be realistic for a moment, Corrie gets slated for all the same reasons by critics and fans alike, it's award season coming up and that normally gives an indication of just how well it's doing, when eastenders was doing badly and not winning awards that's when the people started to take note and got rid of the main person but while Corrie still pulls in the ratings I doubt they will care what we think, the best thing is the viewers can do is by turning off and making a statement by not watching till it's had a kick up the arse.

The days when the soaps were the highest rated shows on TV are long gone. The highest rated show,of the past few weeks has been Britains Got Talent.

They won't take action until the figures drop below EastEnders.

But why should ITV only fix Corrie and let ED die a slow death under it's tenth rate producer? ED is already getting viewing figures just a fraction above 5 million. It's shed a massive number of viewers over the past 2 months.
Both need urgent attention with new producers and a massive clear out of the crap characters and dire actors that are over running both soaps.

Which is why if you read my post you'll see I said 'consistently, week in week out', (as opposed to once a week for the occasional few weeks).

Meh - your usual out of context stuff again spungey. All soap ratings are down as you know, but the relative proportions of the main 3 soaps and their shares remain pretty much the same.
Last night EE got a feeble 5.71, Corrie's 2nd ep got an even feebler 5.72. At 5.17 ED got exactly what you'd expect accordingly, and as usual in relation to the other two.

Seriously, I agree with your post.

Having lost Hayley, Deirdre, Peter, Tina, Carla, Lloyd, Julie, Marcus, The Price's, Rob, and more, over the past 20 months, the cast is in a bit of trouble.

They're very lucky to have long servers like Ken, Emily, Rita, Audrey, Gail, Kevin & Sally. However, Ken, Emily & Rita are sadly getting older now, and once they leave, it will puncture an absolutely humongous hole in the show, which is a shame.

Just paper over the cracks like they've been doing since 2005.

If anything, before axing characters & drafting a new team in, boot out Kieran Roberts first. He WAS responsible for Corrie's last ever good period 2002-2005, but since then he's let it suffer.

ED ibeing as bad as the rest of them should not cover up how many viewers have stopped watching ED. At least the other soaps can still produce stories that resulr in ratings boots from time to time. ED produces flop after flop these days. Not too long ago the much derided Blackburn was pulling in 7 million plus for some of his ED stories.
His era seems like a golden one when compared to the mega flop Oates. Bizzarely it seems as long as Oates pleases the fanboys/girls on here she's going to keep her job and sod to her appealing record of flop story after flop story. No boss in TV history would have kept their job with her track record.

William Roache would probably rather die on set than leave the show.
