I think Alesha does know about what is cool. She can sing, but she is just an ok singer whose vocals are more suited to up-tempo songs and rapping.

Alesha is the only one on the panel with the knowledge to say whether the acts are good enough or not.

Alisha thinks knows all about dancing just because she appeared on a celebrity dance show who half of them go on for a laugh like John sergeant . That's the level of the dance show she appeared . Real professional dancers she wouldn't have a clue about and have no right to judge as they'd be many levels above .

It's not about whether she has the knowledge to say whether an act is good, it's about her having the credentials to say what's cool.

A 36 year old defining what's cool makes something look as far away from cool as you could get.
For a teenager it would be like their Mum or Dad hearing their music and telling them that it's got a good beat. It would almost certainly put that teenager off that act for life.
