Can anybody recommend a reasonably priced pair of 5.1 surround headphones for use with a PC please for movie use? I've searched around and there are many 'gaming' sets available, but they all seems to have an attached microphone which doesn't seem to fold away or at least not at my price point.

I have a budget of around £50 - £60 but would prefer to spend less if possible. My PC is Windows 7 with a standard analogue 'headphone' jack output. From searching Amazon most of the 5.1 sets seem to have a USB connection which I assume negates the need for a new soundcard (which I really can't afford)

I do only want this for movie playback and if possible a pair that can be pushed to stupid levels with minimal distortion as I love to watch action movies uber loud in surround, but living in a mid terrace makes this impossible!

Am I asking to much on my limited budget (and PC spec) or should I stick to my PC output > Sony CMT FX250 Hi-fi > Technics RPF350 stereo (2.0) headphones which can all be pushed to ridiculous levels with minimal distortion.

As your analogue PC output is stereo only, then you can't get 5.1 via that route - presumably the USB options just plug in to a USB port on your PC, and already have the 5.1 sound card internally?.

But I'm rather dubious how good 5,1 would be through headphones anyway?, why not just stick to your existing setup and save the money?

Logitech G430 from Amazon.

I had the G35 previously but sat on them - they had a faint but annoying mains hum but the G430 are really good.

Both are USB type and come with a good control panel for setting up the equalizer and sound channel balance.

I really enjoy listening with them.
