A bit of a disappointing experience in my local three store today:

The 6+ was there, on display, and looked very nice too.

However, despite the comments above, they wouldn't sell it to me as a payg, despite the fact I'm a three customer just out of contract. They'd happily sell me it as an upgrade, they'd even sell me the phone at £299 on payg IF I bought a sim only contract from £8/pm.

But could I just buy the phone at the advertised PAYG price in the window? Nope.

They told me this was to "protect stock". To me it sounded like they had a target to sell more contracts. It certainly didn't make me feel looked after as an existing customer.

They knew nothing about this "special tariff" which Honor & 3 had suggested.

Bit of a let down really. Still, I can wait. It's only going to get cheaper isn't it...!

Ridiculous how we have to jump through hoops with some of these phones. You would think someone has the money so can go out to buy what they want but manufacturers and phone companies make things complicated.

The advent of a dual SIM device marketed by a UK network is a very interesting development.

I'd be interested in trying one with EE and Vodafone SIMs.

However, the support for 800 Mhz LTE is confusing.

The product page (http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Devi...2&colour=Black) states LTE compatibility as follows: FDD-LTE: B1/B3/B7

So according to the specs, it doesn't support 800 Mhz (which makes it no good for trying with a Vodafone SIM).

Surely Three wouldn't bring a device to market which doesn't support 800 Mhz LTE when they will be rolling out this frequency later in the year ??

Im sure that someone posted here (jonmorris ??) that the special tariff was canned before launch.

I've got a ZTE Blade S6 or something which is a cheap chinese dual sim smart phone. I've got a VOD SIM for voice (2G) and an EE sim for data although I've just ordered a 3 SIM as the 321 deal suits me better than the EE PAYG deal. Also will know when 3 roll out 800 4G here.

To be honest the phone is great. It looks and feels cheap but it's quick, I get calls where you could never get them on EE/3 at the moment and I get fast data which you could never get on VOD/O2, when I'm in coverage. It just kind of works. Android takes a while to get used to after years of iOS but it's OK and I really like some things like a 'BACK' button. Use that a lot. Twitter, Facetube, interweb, calls, gmail all totally fine.

At the moment, no UK network offers the total coverage deal that I want. So splitting makes sense to me. I can even make calls and text on my EE sim if I want should I be in an area where VOD have no voice coverage. Or I can swap the sims and have data on VOD (not happened yet...........)

I kind of like it. I keep thinking I'll go back on contract once one of the networks offers a complete service with 800/900 voice and decent data but I'm not sure. If I could by a nicer phone and stick where I am, I might just do that.

I'm now thinking that if the merger with O2 goes ahead, for a rural dweller like me, 3 might be the best option in a year or so. Despite the EE biased expert opinion on here, 800 VoLTE is going to make a big difference to a lot of us pasty munchers and 3 / VOD seem to be the only ones rolling it. EE say they will but the truth is, they haven't bought enough of it. Roll on 700.

Biased expert opinion? Maybe I have missed something but this forum is far from biased plurally towards a UK network. Being honest its one of the few places that offers a more cynical and dare I say it accurate take on developments in this country. So I find your remarks rather puzzling?

I am slightly jealous of those buying this handset, I got the smaller variant in January for £150 or, don't know if was pricing error or just a lightning deal. That said its lovely handset in terms of EMUI 3.0, much better than EM2.3 which this phablet avoids. I use it as a spare phone, however when in heavy use I get about 1+1/2 days use out of it, the CPU is apparently 64bit as well, when it gets Lollipop it should fly.

A lot of people have dismissed Chinese based CPU designs and tech. I have ran various benchmark tests on this, Note 4 and Moto G, Honor 6 comes out on top every time. If it wasn't for the fact I got the Galaxy Note 4 last October I would be using the Honor 6 as my main device.

£300 for near flagship level components, is well worth it. I suppose the only drawback is screen resolution, although at this price point I don't think inserting a 2k display would have kept costs down. I do like the idea of dual sim though, I will be watching to see what other devices get released in the UK with that feature. I think the onlys ones are a Lumia of some sort, Moto G 2014 and this one?

OK, maybe not fair in general. I retract the bias remark. I just got hammered for expressing an opinion about 800Mhz roll out from a couple of folks who are clearly either working for EE or worshiping them even after they have been bought out by Cellnet

I now realise it's because they are aware that EE have not got enough 800 to offer a credible service so they are trying to tell people that 1800 will be superior in rural areas. Whatever. I'm done with that argument.

Dual sim will probably become irrelevant in 1-2 years as 4G gets properly rolled out but for now it is a great way to get the best of 900 2G and EE/3 3G/4G on one phone. I haven't actually looked at the phone yet. My ZTE is certainly no iPhone in terms of look and feel but it does work very well. I have yet to find anything infuriating about it other than when I pick up my old 4S I think 'hmmmm' as it feels so good.

I have no great love for EE (I'm one of the few who has taken EE to arbitration at CISAS and won a defended case).

But just to fix your incorrect assertions (I have more of a problem with ignorant people than people liking or disliking any network).

Cellnet became O2 UK, O2 UK is now owned by Telefonica S.A. who are currently in talks with Hutchison Whampoa, the owner of Three. BT have had no interest in O2 since around 2002.

I actually used to have dealings with Martin Dawes, I'm not sure why you are casting some sort of aspersion on them, I think they are still in business and are a pretty reputable company (or was that the only name you could remember?).

I was trying to suggest that VoLTE was very important for 800 roll out as it would allow voice over a superior frequency for rural customers.
