We'll look back on this season as the most frustrating in recent memory. League is absolutely there for the taking and due to our ridiculous manager we have no chance.
Everything that is happening now was completely avoidable and anyone with half a brain knew it months ago.
We've already missed out on Klopp, if it's true that Guardiola is leaving Bayern at the end of the season then we better not be left standing again.
Wenger needs to be told this is his last season.

The problem is these dropped points may well prove costly at the business end of the season. Sunderland at home next. They have improved under Allardyce but we really need to get a run going again into the Christmas period.
Forget the business end of the season. We haven't been in contention at that stage of the season for at least a decade.

Walcott, Wilshere, Arteta, Rosicky, Welbeck, Coquelin...now add Sanchez, Koscielny & Cazorla.
Nearly a first team there. So frustrating.

Well Sancez needs a rest, lets hope its not a long one. Lets hope the rest does him good.

Yes, but this season unlike others we do have a genuine chance. No one is running away with it, which has been lucky for us.

Wenger should not and can not rely in top 4 we are not guarenteed it. If we do not win this league than tptb need to tell AW its time to go.

Begs the question why Wenger didn't hook Sanchez after he scored the 2nd against Zagreb. The game was won at 3-0 with 20 mins left. Welbeck's absence is proving to be a pain with the need to play Sanchez all the time. All we need now is for Giroud to get crocked and we really will be up ""it creek.

Sanchez should never have started the game, as he was not 100%. It was more of a case of desperation on Aw's part with a lack of players. He has ballsed it up and he knows it. He has to spend in Jan and he even said he would. We always seem to struggle in November.

See, the thing is, I'm not even convinced he does know it. This isn't anything new, this happens every season and has done for ten years or more. He learnt NO lessons from those years and I see no reason why things will change now. He says a lot of things, quite a lot of which he conveniently forgets down the line. By January the injury position will have improved somewhat and returning players will let him use the 'like a new signing', no value in the market, we'll definitely strengthen in the summer arguments to name but three.

He needs to go.

Now he's trying to justify starting Sanchez. If I was to cut him some slack, then if the player says he's okay then it's difficult to 'rest' him. That said, he is the manager and has to see the bigger picture and sometimes make those hard decisions for the good of the team. You can't wrap players in cotton wool and injuries can happen in training too but he's made a massive error of judgement on this one and quite possibly consigned the team to the Europa League as winning in Greece by 2 goals or 3-2 etc has been made much harder now.

Going back to the summer, I would have offloaded Arteta, Rosicky and Wilshere. Controversial I know esp Wilshere but in all honesty how much game time is he going to to get with his glass ankles? Man City were ready to take him. Again he's missing for a long period of time with no return any time soon. It may not have been popular but am sick to death of having these players on the payroll for so little in return. Now it's going to be even harder to offload with his injury record and Wenger is so stubborn about these things. Arteta and Roscicky, great pro's and been a delight to watch for the most part but their time is up. It happens. Rosicky is injured yet again. He might get a few token appearances at some point but will not make a major contribution to the team. At least Wenger will have to have a proper clear out come the end of the season. No excuses.

How many times though have you (and by 'you' I mean all of us) said something similar during a season? I've lost count and yet here we are again; no lessons learnt, another season guaranteed to fade out in disappointment, another chance missed. The squad full of players not worth a quarter of their wage (you're completely right about Wilshire and he isn't the only one) and Arsene still running everything.

The only way this will end is for the club to have a truly appalling season. I'm at the stage where I'd actually welcome it.

Hard to disagree with the above(s), apart from Arteta having being a delight to watch maybe .

Personally, I'd keep Wiltshire although this is mainly based on sentiment rather than anything else. He's a gunner through and through and when fit a potential match winner. It's the 'when fit' bit that's the big issue. It would break my heart to see him pick up medals with someone like City (a la Delph), even if he's not playing regularly. He's also one of the few players that will bust a gut for the team, shame he's typically busting his knees amd ankles more.

We need bodies in, preferably in Jan. Plenty of half-decent options out there, the likes of Carvalho and Nolito seemingly available and well within the budget. Get a couple in now to sustain the challenge, and beef up the squad. In the summer, get rid of some deadwood (Flam, Arteta, Rosicky, Sanogoals to name but a few) in the summer and add some quality then.

We're still surprisingly close although that's got f all to do with us. The title is there for the taking and if we're still within a couple of points when we get some players back, who knows what will happen. Our end of season sprint will be interesting, but how will we cope if there's actually something to play for? Will we still be able to do do it, or will we simply crumble with the pressure of a 'proper' challenge?

Wenger is simply not ruthless enough. Mollycoddling the players constantly results in performances like last night where the players don't look like they want to give that extra 10% to get the three points that the team on paper should get against Norwich.

Non existent pressing. Poor defending without the ball. Not enough creativity up front. Can't believe AW used the jaded excuse again. It's only November.

same old song, over and over. If Wenger had any dignity, he'd resign. Instead, because he has panic attacks about not having the cushiest job in football, he sticks around and overstays his best buy date by seasons now. (well unless you're happy just to participate in tournaments or leagues that you can't win).
I've never seen a situation more in need of new blood.

From a new owner to new players is what the club needs. Its not just a case of his dignity its about a owner with ambition. Till this happens nothing will change. Ivan and Stan have been at this club long enough to know how things should work. Time for them to man up and tell the old man his time is up.

It's not his dignity, I don't think he is aware he's actually doing anything wrong - his arrogance and love of himself knows no bounds. As Spidey says, it's up to those at the top (well if anyone is higher up than Wenger is questionable) to show him the door, and that won't happen as he brings in what they want year after year. No doubt when the time comes he'll sign a new contract for more money. We're stuck with him guys - like it or lump it.

I know we're stuck with him. I agree that he has zero self criticism but what I found most revealing was his interview where he said sometimes he thinks about quitting, then he becomes excessively anxious about not having his current job (this should of course be irrelevant if Stan had any ambition). It's cost him (it seems) his marriage, so now all he has is his Arsenal job.

Why on earth did he leave Santi on as well, if he knew he was playing "on one leg"? !

Perhaps the two FA cups bought him some time, which to a degree is fair enough. What's worrying is that ODL seems to have no answer to the injury crises year after year and refuses to address this in terms of transfers. We didn't get any outfield players in the summer, FFS, for which we're now playing the price (again!!).

We're still in the title race, but for how long? If we get the likes of Walcott and Ox back in the next week or so, and manage to somehow progress in the CL, January will (hopefully) be an expensive window. Some of the players that we're forever linked with could be serious options (Bender, Carvalho in the DM position would be good), and we need someone up front too (Nolito and today Breel Embolo seem to be the flavours of the week from the journos).

Either way, something needs to change. If ODL can bring silverware again, he'll deserve another year. If he doesn't, I hope that we show some ambition and get Guardiola in. That would be a serious statement of intent and would hopefully also bring in a new 'philosophy' and winning mentality.

Guardiola would be my pick for next manager too. I hope a project like ours would interest him more than Man City and their oil money.

Hate to say it but I think Guardiola will be off to City in the Summer unless Bayern offer him a mega new deal.

We tend to suit his style more then Citeh. If tptb decided they want him than he may come to us and try to prove he can do it not just with money teams. Unless he goes back to Barca end if season.

I agree we would suit him more, but are we really gonna spend the money it would take to get him? It would be huge for us if we signed Pep.

It would be great as we're crying out for fresh ideas, but Wenger will be carried out in a box, so there's more chance of me going to the moon.

Yep, although I'm positive by nature and you never know.

I'm hoping that the board will see sense and that ODL will be on the way if there's no silverware at the end of the season. The new EPL money will kick in from next season and the fact that we still have huge cash reserves may mean that we can show ambition if the will is there. Also worth remembering that ODL is on 7m a year, so giving huge money to someone like Guardiola wouldn't have a big impact at all. It would be a few million more from where we are now, but would almost guarentee a return in terms of challenging for and winning titles.

Santi could be long term. Knee ligament damage. Well done Wenger, leaving him to play the 2nd half with that. Shades of Ozil, when the German medical team had to intervene.
