Listening to Jamie Carragher is like being scratched across the face with a rusty nail.

Big 3 points! Shame we couldn't push on in the latter stages of the game but we held on.

Ozil's clicked, he's been immense! Once we get new bodies in, or old ones back, we're looking strong.

The likelihood of Arsene signing new players in January I think ranges from slim to none.

We've all been here before. It's whether we strengthen the areas that need it and the other candidates don't kick on like they normally do. The latter looks promising so far, the former who knows?

Not enough praise before, during or after the game. Even when we were all over them during the game all we got was man city, man city, man city.

And where did Toure and Pellegrini get the idea that they dominated us?

Great result. Come on Arsenal.

We were hanging on at the end but a win is a win and against one of the main rivals, if not the main rival then it's a hell of a result. Great goal by Theo, Sanchez like and typical Arsenal goal for the 2nd. Well taken by Giroud. Thought we were a bit wasteful in the 2nd half and it nearly cost us but we dug in to see it out.

Southampton next. They are having a patchy season and we really ought to get all 3 points but we treat them lightly at our peril.

We were missing Coquelin, Santi and Alexis and still beat an almost full strength Man City team bar Kompany.

Plenty of reasons to think we can kick on in the second half of the season.

Still early days but bookies have made us favourites for the title.

Good match tonight, watched it with a friend of mine, great goal by Walcott.

Favourites for the title with the bookies now.

Must stop watching Arsenal, everytime I watch them they win. Its doing United no good.

No seriously well done.

Kompany is a massive player for them. Still a great win and a pair of well taken goals from our main strike force.

A well deserved win, hiding behind cushions towards the end. Best chance for a good while to go all the way and win it.

Love these stats. Bodes well going forward.

- Mesut Ozil recorded his 14th and 15th assists of the season in this game, reaching the total in 16 appearances, faster than any player in a single Premier League season.

- Ozil now has 29 Premier League assists in his career, as many as Eden Hazard but in 59 games fewer.

- Five of Arsenal's last six top-flight title wins have seen them in second place at Christmas, including two of their three Premier League titles.

- Man City have lost five games this season. The last team to lose five or more games before Christmas and still win the title were Everton in 1986-87.

maybe we should play him for all our home games and La Coq when we are away. (if they are both fit at the same time, which rarely happens)

Here's another, Thierry Henry currently holds the record for most Assists in a league season (20), Ozil has 15 so far.

How do you guys feel about being favorites for the title? I think it's still too soon to be talking title for any team. After 25 games, yeah then it becomes real, not before.

??!!!!?? He's got 18 months to go, hasn't he? Totally ridiculous to do it now, imo. If he get us the title, maybe, but really no need even then!

Cech for future Arsenal captain? His focus pre match in the tunnel, leadership and security he brings to the defence is second to none.

Drogba on Cech and our title chances (from 1:20) :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KSwNUD0N-I

Another good article by Amy Lawrence on Cech: http://www.theguardian.com/football/...premier-league

Being the favourite means nothing really, there are still a lot of games to play and as we've seen so far this season, anything can happen. We also still have to play Everton, Spurs, Liverpool, Man City and Man United - all away!

But if we get through to April still in the title race then we have a very good chance because aside from City away, 6 of our last 7 games are winnable.

What annoys me however is people dismissing this season as "If Arsenal win the league, it's only because everyone else is rubbish." Whoever wins the league deserves to win the league and it's a great achievement. Plus in years to come when you look at record books there isn't a bit in brackets afterwards that says "Chelsea had a nightmare season and Man United played backwards football. Arsenal were the best of a bad bunch."

Similarly another thing that annoys me is when people say if we don't win it this season we never will just because Chelsea have fallen by the wayside and Leicester are currently our closest challengers.

Easy to belittle an achievement when you're anti-Arsenal in the first place.

Surely Ozil will smash Titi's record, mark my words.
