Groundhog Day again. Some things never change.
How many more chances do the players need to be reminded first place is up for grabs???

4-0. Crazy season.

Goal difference has taken a battering.
It really has. Arsenal won't win the title this season, because they will always have days like this.

No point getting excited, this is Arsenal don't forget. The minute there were whispers about this maybe being our year all was lost.
Its not even this. The squad is not that good, things like this will always happen until we get better players. The manage should have changed the team up. At least it shows Money needs to be spent in Jan. AW and the board can not ignore this.

embaressing result.

No point going top they'd only bottle it. This way they know they need to improve and stop being arrogant.

You don't win leagues in December, contrary to what the media and the Arsenal players thought after beating City.

To me, losing to City then beating Southampton would have the same significance as vise versa.

No need to go overboard though. Think the game would've been different had Southampton didn't score that (wonder) goal first and were forced to chase. But Koeman had a plan, Wenger didn't.

We'll find a lot more about this team in January. Chelsea at home, Liverpool and Stoke away.

Yes we do need a few new players in certain positions, but when we are injury free (ha ha) we do have a decent squad and one that should be more than capable of challenging and winning the league. It's a mental thing more with us than anything, one sniff of the premiership trophy and that's us done for - just bottlers. Anyway, can't get too excited about the loss tonight, get used to the ups & downs of being a gooner....meh.

You don't expect a plan from someone who only trousers £8 million a year.

Tend to agree new players aren't enough on their own. The whole mindset has to change and there's no sign of that happening.

I see what you are saying. We could go top on Monday it would have been nice to have an extended lead. It shows we need to buy. If they do not and we do not win the league than AW should be shown the door. No excuses.

oh well onto the next one.

But even if we buy I'm not sure it will make any difference. As soon as this team has any expectation placed on it, it immediately folds.

Now if only the manager made an effort to focus on mental strength

Every season or so we seem to get some wonder goal scored against us (Danny Rose, David Bentley etc)...Annoying they decided to turn up for the first time in weeks against us but there u go. Luckily we have a game in a couple of days time to hopefully get over this horror show...

''So you are 1-0 down at half time and come out raring to go'' so said Ian Wright (or words to that effect) knowing Leicester got beat and chance to go top.
What happens ....... nothing !!! apart from Southampton knocking another 3 in, the Arsenal B team turned up tonight, in fact if the B team had played we may have done better, sad.

Agree with everything, especially the bolded. That match was a surreal watch for me, well, what I was able to stomach anyway. I switched off the tv after the second goal. I just could not bear to watch. I started to follow it on Twitter then couldn't continue with that either when I saw 3-0.

Ah, Arsenal, not easy being a fan!

We'll probably thump Bournemouth now or....not. Maybe we've hit that usual patch now. *Sigh*

This isn't about winning leagues in December. It is about consistency. We are never consistent when it matters most, only when it is too late. There are always a couple of periods in the season where they just go missing.

Had to laugh at Wenger speaking about the game; the first goal was offside, the 2nd was a foul & the third was a goal kick.

Just one of those awful days at the office. Not sure if we took our off the ball as it were and just thought we could turn up and outplay Southampton but we got a nasty shock instead. In the scheme of things, not too damaging, except Man City making some ground up. We can only get back on track tomorrow. We dare not take Bournemouth lightly though.

Thats generous of him to allow that the fourth goal might have been genuine, or perhaps he just wanted to forget it.

Had it been the other way around (Arsenal 4; Southampton 0) it would have been: "I don't know. I didn't see that. The referee is in the best position. You should ask him."

Wenger's always been a poor loser and an ungracious winner.

First (maybe only) signing of the window?

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...elneny-7076877

The report is by John Cross who has good connections within the club so I see no reason to doubt it. I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the guy play but I hope this isn't Arsene attempt the cheap fix yet again.

Blimey an early signing. No doubt to be the only one.

And Wilshere seems to have picked up another setback. Starting to think he'll never realise his potential.

Only just starting?!

Spurs are starting to show worrying consistency. They are quietly working their way up the table. Hope that stops soon.

Every year they do this at some point...there fans get excited...then ultimately they balls it up...and Gabriel scores
