My feeling is that Wenger will make a decision about staying on after this current contract next season. I mean he will give an indication sometime next season. The board will want to keep the status quo for as long as possible. They have seen the shambles at Man Utd after Ferguson left and won't want to go down that road. Of course one day, they will have to find a successor but I think Wenger will accept a 2 year extension then call it a day.

^^^ I really hope not. It's obvious he's at the end of his club career and should possibly move to managing an international team or retire.

The noises from Gazidis suggests this is his last contract at Arsenal.

Oh right, I thought there was talk of an extension. All speculation I guess. The thing is, he's obsessed with the game and don't see him winding down, gathering grapes in his south of France retreat or wherever it is. Then again I don't see him going 'upstairs' either at Arsenal. Will make a clean break of it and stay in the game in some capacity. Time will tell though.

He has mentioned Fergie has hobbies outside of the game like his horses and he doesn't have anything like that outside of football and would be bored without the day to day managing of a club. So an extension is a possibility as much as most would loathe the idea.

Well if Blanc steps down from France after the Euro's maybe he will take the mantle.
Has he? I haven't heard that one. Maybe he won't directly, but I'm sure he'll have a hand in it somewhere along the line. Could we even trust the Board to make the right decision?

Still, we've got good old Arsene for the foreseeable future, so many reasons to be happy.

So to Sunday, even though it was against poor opposition yesterday, the Utd youngsters looked good. Can we up our game, as that win will have given them a bit of confidence.
Yeah the board are as dodggy as **** and i am sure are looking for another yes man as we speak.

A fresh direction & new ideas is so needed at the club. Wenger has done fantastic but everyone has a time to step down. Unfortunately the longer someone has been in charge it's harder for them to see this.

Wasn't it Auxerre who had the same manager for about 50 years? I exaggerate but a long time.

If Arsenal beat Hull our quarter final v Watford will be at 1.30 on Sunday 13th March. However if Hull beat us then they get to play Watford at lunchtime on Saturday 12th Match.

We have Barcelona the following Wednesday (yeah, yeah, I know it's pretty much a lost cause, but still) so we could have done with the Saturday KO. I guess BT think Hull v Watford is a nothing game and are happy to have it clash with their PL coverage whereas they'd be taking viewers from themselves if they showed us at the same time. Makes sense from a broadcasting POV but still annoying.

Yes I wanted wenger out in 2011. The team has improved since the though the failure to sign up players other than cech in past year has been costly this season. However now that guardiola is city bound I can offer no other names for a suitable successor to Mons Wenger.

Ramsey has gone off the boil too, so much for this english core.

Yeah we will not win the Cl not just with Wenger but this board. We need to spend deep to beat the best. We need a owner who is ambitious, maybe why Guardiola did not come. Any manager with ambition would think twice before taking this job, under this board etc.
What are the views of the thread on Usmanov?

Wasn't surprised at the loss or the manner in which it occurred, I place a wager on Barcelona on minus 1 an felt a little dirty collecting it.

Re the game, not many of the players delivered their best or anyway near their best in my opinion, Bellerin played well as did Cech and Kos but a lot of the others were poor. Ramsey and Giroud had stinkers, and once again if we had Higuain leading our attack we'd have had at least 1 goal to our name last night.

Another point is that Barca can mix up their play so much better than us, they can play the tip-tap style but also some long balls and wing play too as well as a very impressive counter attack. They can also be a bit more dirty when required too.

Was good seeing Koeman in the studio, I'm a big fan of his and wouldn't mind him taking over from Wenger.
OK Koeman as a successor to Wenger. Any other good suggestions?

His background would suggest Dein really did us no favours by selling out to him. I'd much rather he wasn't involved at all but that's probably a forlorn hope now. Simply don't trust him.

Is that because he is more foreign than American Stan Kroenke? At least Usmanov doesn't go and spend his money buying ranches bigger than New York and LA combined and has made noises about more investment being required to go back into the playing squad and is an Arsenal fan.

You can't be happy with Stan Kroenke and the little effect it has done to our trophy cabinet since he took over, the annual £3m fee for unquantifiable 'advice' he provides and the rise in ticket prices?

It's got NOTHING to do with his nationality but his background. I suggest you do some reading if it's not known to you. I couldn't care less where our owners live.

I'm not happy with Kroenke but not spending money is more down to our idiot of a manager than the board. What has Usmanov done for the club given he owns 30% of it by the way?

His quotes always seem to be designed to appeal to the fans. When we're doing well he supports Arsene, when we're not he goes against him. As for more investment, nobody is stopping him.

Fair fecks to Leicester, won't go away quietly.

Makes the game tomorrow and the NLD next weekend all the more important.

In other news, Sanogo scores a hat-trick for Charlton.

Arsene Wenger is many things but an idiot? Aside from all the trophies Arsenal have won since he became manager he negotiated himself an 8 million quid a year contract and currently occupies what looks like an untouchable position at the club. Hardly idiotic...

Yeah, he's no fool when it comes to trousering £8m, but apart from that I agree with Sotek, if he was a genius he'd have hung onto Sanogo......

Would not trust him as far as i could throw him. Just another politician who tells fans what they want to here.

You have to feel sorry for Sanogo - scores a hat trick but ends up on the losing side.

Gabriel and Walcott start with Welbeck up front against his former club.

Martial misses out but De Gea is fit to start. Their bench looks barebones.

Last time we faced a injury ravaged side was Liverpool and we know what happened there. Not hoping for a repeat of this result.
