Arsenal traditionally always go on an unbeaten run from now until the end of the season so you must favourites to finish in the Top four

Iwobi and Welbeck have to start at the weekend.

Glad Koscielny is back as well.

Only 1 midweek game in the PL, the rest are all on weekends so I hope Wenger doesn't rotate and keeps playing Welbeck up front instead of Giroud.

Once the pressure is off we usually start playing for Le Virtual Trophy - its what we do

Well done Elneny! I'm liking Wellbeck too.

People are not seriously doubting arsenal to finish outside the top 4. It's a lock.

Just wathing the highlights now. You guys should have scored around 3 goals in the first half alone. I'm telling you these foreign teams ain't nothing special. English teams mentality has to change when it comes to these teams. Gooner fans I know had lost the match before it even started. The attitude of fans as a whole influences the team imo.

Well we actually played well last night, it's a shame we couldn't have done better on the first leg. It's annoying that we can't perform the same each match, it's so inconsistent.

The side was hand picked for fast counter attack - not so effective at home or against less progressive sides than Barcelona. I'm a Liverpool fan and we're equally inconsistent for similar reasons - the opposition have got to play into our hands or we struggle.

So final 16, we're out again - no surprise there, it's what we do best.

The pressure is off, no-one realistically expects us to win the league - we'll slip into our most comfy slippers and glide into 3rd or 4th for the end of the season, job done.

As Tiron said earlier, this time next year we'll all be saying the same thing, much as we were last year with the exception of winning the FA Cup.

Hi, hope you don't mind me asking are u renewing your season ticket? Not known such unhappiness amongst Arsenal fans. I thought 2011 was bad but having improved in 2015 so much the regression of 2016 has been hard to take.

I don't have one Allan, my husband is the STH. And yes he will, mainly because he has such a great seat, upper tier, right behind the goal, row 2. But for most of this season he's put his seat on ticket exchange because he's fed up with same old and Wenger. And yes the fans around where he sits are all really unhappy - old Gooners the lot of them. My eldest gave his up a few years ago as he's now got a mortgage to pay. I was a Red member and my youngest a Junior Gunner and we both gave our memberships up end of last season.

Wenger "Barcelona 3 turn football into art" lol. True as it might be, Wenger's Birthday and Xmas must have all come at once when we drew them. He had his excuse for failng aready.

One could almost believe that some of our fans are actually glad that we are suffering a bit of a dip.

Couldn't wait for it to happen it seems, so they could say they told us so.

Positively wallowing in Wenger's misery.

Schadenfreude.

I never actually delight in the failings of our team or wish they lose games. However unlike you i will not lick Wenger's ass and be so deluded. He is failing badly abd righly so being called out on it. Maybe had he built the squad in the summer properly we would not be in this mess.

Instead of being humble he becomes arrogant and says rubbish about how he built the club etc, instead if taking the responsibilty for its failings.

If Wenger is miserable he brings in it in himself.

For the rest of the season Welbeck should start at CF, he has superior pace and movement to Giroud and a great work rate too.

Didn't expect a result last night, but we did play well for spells of the game, if we'd done that against Swansea, Man Utd and Watford then I'm sure recent results would have been better than they have been.

Ospina, Welbeck, Elneny and Iwobi all played very well last night, bringing on Walcott and Giroud was an error, it killed the momentum, or if he was going to go for it then take off some more defensive players and really attack them.

Everton game will be tough and we have the ready made 'tired' excuse from having to play midweek, but after that we have no other distractions so there are no excuses.

Giroud is a better finisher (albeit marginally since neither are great). Welbeck overall is just as mediocre as Giroud so it doesn't matter who starts up front, the forwards are all sub standard. At best one can say that Welbeck and Campbell are hard workers and that's about it.

Yeah the lack of a quality finisher really showed up again last night...I know there's only a finite number of them out there but it's not as if we don't have the cash

Anyone know more about the Flamini incident last night? According to Talk sport he turned up at the after match press conference just to watch Wenger. John Cross said Wenger walked off when questioned about substituting Flamini. He said there was quite an unpleasant undercurrent to it. I haven't seen much elsewhere though.

Aubameyang scores at WHL. Wouldn't mind us signing him in the summer.

Indeed, the need for a top quality striker (or as we should say in footy terms, a top top quality striker) is there for all to see. It's been frustrating to see the likes of Morata and Higuain move clubs recently, both would have been great additions and well within the budget.

Wrighty was suggesting that there are more people who'd like to see ODL leave than there are who'd like to see him stay. I think that's pretty apparent, certainly here on DS (in spite of the fact that there are a few posters vehemently criticising those who want ODL out. He said that if Arsenal finish 3rd/4th, he may well decide to leave.

For me, it's time for him to go. The 'out' camp is voicing their opinion in a reasonable way (certainly at the ground) and I think it's getting to the point where it will turn toxic.

A few posts have gone missing, I see...

Don't be silly, Arsene won't want to 'kill' Sonogo.

ha ha, he wouldn't want to 'kill' sanogo and we only need super quality to improve the team!

The thing is that mediocrity is rewarded, players are given new contracts for big money and then when he eventually realises they are rubbish it's too late, Bendtner, Denilson, Diaby (unfortunate as he was good but always injured), Eboue, Almunia, Santos etc. On contrary, when players are decent we faff around over a new deal and they are snapped up cheap.

The fact that mediocrity is rewarded is evident amongst the players too, it's always a shrug and a smile when Giroud misses the next sitter or when Theo balloons his cross in to row z, the only players that appear to have a winning mentality are Cech (instilled at Chelsea), Sanchez (instilled at Barca) and Welbeck (instilled at Man U), and I'm sue that will be beaten out of them soon enough.

Petit said Aw should go and so does Alan Smith. So the pace from his old players and other gooner legends are gathering. Those who backed him are turning on him.

Let me say this before i get abused from Aw apologists. I like the guy and i hate to see him being abused or abusing him. However he makes it so hard not to abuse him etc.

Luckily enough for Wenger the season is nearing its close and all will be forgotten for a while.

And I don't think anyone wants to really 'abuse' him, but people are just saying plain and simple, his day is over, he's been great for the club, everyone appreciates it and the Invincibles will go down in history, but now it's time to pack up and go.

Wenger has not just done wonders for Arsenal, he's done wonders for the English game. He changed the way players looked after themselves, thier meals & all sorts of little things. He'll go down as a great Arsenal manager.
The trouble is though, unlike Fergie, he's staying longer than he should. You have to decide that's it I'm going & pass the torch to someone else.

I like Wenger but now is the time to call it a day.
