God this thread is depressing, a few days after the seasons ends with a trophy and instead of reveling in victory for a week or two you are already bitching about arsene (our most successful manager ever) and the signings he hasn't even had the chance to make yet.
Why keep looking to the past, the corner has been turned, the glory years are back again. you are moaning about some fringe players and signings he made 5 years ago when we the most we could spend was 15m. but the whole squad is already packed out with world class talent. 'supporters'.. i think some of you need to look up the definition of that word. I remember at the end of last season some of you on here were saying that we should have martinez or rodgers as our manager… you numpties. |

No need for posts like this, I feel. We all have a view and should be able to voice this without being called names.
I respect Wenger, but also question certain things about him and feel that I provide ample evidence to suggest that maybe he could/should have done better. As a lot of supporters have said, the last two seasons have been good, although I still feel that we could have done better. We needlessly dropped a lot of points against what I consider teams Arsenal should comfortably beat. Now that Wenger doesn't have the 'financial contraints', it will be good to see how we'll fare in terms of transfers. Players at key positions that we need to fill are available (Czech and Schneiderlin for example), and i hope that we can add some quality. As you say, the future looks a lot better and long may it continue. |

Yes, me too, maybe Spurs complained to the FA?
It's just the FA having to be seen to 'do the right thing', because Wishere swore. That's the permanently-offended society that we now live in, I'm afraid. |

I'd be surprised. Most of their fans seemed to wonder what all of the fuss was about.

Debatable imo. So Sterling's laughing gas is fine but Jack's banter and singing a song sung every week at the emirates brings the game into disrepute. Just a bunch of old men with sticks up their arses. Quote:
Yes, maybe but I just wonder why it took them so long to make this decision?

Sensible post and 100% correct.
If someone disagrees with you they're a troll. If they agree with you they're great. Some on here find it hard to accept that most Arsenal fans still fully support our manager. And as I've said before, if you think I'm baiting press the alert function. If not, change the record. |

Don't think people don't see what you're up to. And I'd cut the patronising 'love' out if I were you. |

Pretty pathetic the FA are charging Jack for having a laugh/banter imo. He must have (rightly) assumed it was fine after last year?

So transparent and tedious! You have to learn to accept that not everyone shares your opinions, and if someone doesn't, they are not necessarily a troll. It's not guaranteed that everyone will just float along with the flow to remain popular with the group. Some of us don't bother about that. Surprised I have to explain how these things work, but hey ho. |

You make comments, then some people might offer alternatives, or challenge your opinion. It's what these forum things are all about.

Thankfully I've never alerted a fellow poster in all my years on here, that's not my style Cosmo. But as there is an 'ignore' function, that will be my favoured route from now on. So post away, I'm happy for you to have the last word which you undoubtedly won't be able to resist doing. |

Been quiet here!
So, Diaby's been officially released but may be given a pay as you play contract. I'd rathet see an established name to arrive in his position but I'm not against a combination of the two. How, if at all will Pod feature feature next season? Personally, I'd like to see him movef on as well if that means we'll get a 'proper' improvement on him. He's 30 now but we should get a decent fee for him and with Diaby's and his wages off the bill, it should make some room in the wage budget. In term of new additions, we can do worse than gambling on Micah Richards on a free. He's still young and will be looking to get back into the England team. That will mean that we can 'spend big' on a defensive midfield player and a striker. Czech or Casillas would be excellent, but wouldn't make a huge dent in the kitty. The problem is that ODL may look for 'value' and add to the existing mediocrity. Not what we need fot a proper challenge. |

Think there was something mentioned at the time of the transfer. Can't remember what the problem was supposed to be though.

So, Martinez is reported to be going to AC Milan, wonder if ODL is bringing in a new striker.
Walcott's apparently going to sign a new deal. I'm happy with that, he's been good the last bit of the season when given a chance (even through the middle). Deals for Gundogan and Czech are also still on the cards and both would be an improvement. Hopefully he'll want to stay in London, which would mean we're in prime position. Agree re Sanchez, potentially the biggest player since TH, possibly even better. Hopefully, he'll stay for a good number of years winning lots. |

Maybe if Lionel Messi has eleven brothers who can all play as well as him, Wenger can go and buy them - if he has a billion pounds to spare. |

I don't think we're in a position where we need to be taking 'gambles' on players like Micah Richards.

Well if you see players like Sanchez, Ozil, Ramsey, Cazorla, Wilshere, Chamberlain, Bellerin...etc. as mediocre, I'm not sure where we go from there.

As you rightly point out, we have some real quality and I'd like us to add TO that with re same level of quality. No disrespect to Wellbeck, Ospina, Coquelin and less so, Giroud, but we can do better than that. |

There are many things to consider when adding to the squad. The criteria is quite rightly a lot more than just how good the player is. We have a good spirit in the squad at the moment, and Wenger will be careful not to bring any bad apples in.
He will need to find players who are better than what we have, can fit in personality-wise, want to live in the UK, fit our salary ceiling, and are not carrying inflated transfer fees / signing on demands. |
