Henry Winter attended the AST tonight (see Twitter feed) and has confirmed what most already know; that Wenger had sizeable cash to spend since the Emirates move yet chose not to spend it.

The less you spend and meet your targets the more of a reason for your salary to go up.
Also if you spend some decent money on the team there is an increase in expectation/pressure and we all know what happens when this team is under pressure. |

Not only rewarding himself, but pampering the players he has with ridiculous wages.
Just not signings though, it's the mentality of this team. I don't even know if Wenger genuinely believes the team he has got are good enough to win the league. I'm guessing he banked on City to win it, after their impressive start. It appears from the outside that he has no 'grand plan', it's rather 'try different solutions, stick to one that works until the next problem comes up'. Watching Atletico and wondering how much of a better job Simeone would do. |

Atletico are doing everything Arsenal tried to do but were incapable of doing.
They defend like their lives depended on it. |

If Arsenal ever get Diego Simeone then they will probably play more defensive and you would not see the attacking play Arsenal are famous for

Barca just did not turn up tonight, unlike when we played them. Since they lost the classico they have been terrible. Guess cursevof the holder strikes again.

Id like the next manager to be one who likes fast pace counter stuff. It all has to be different to AW. |

Yes, it was terrible being successful under George Graham and watching us win games consistently.

Despite all the greatness of the early Wenger years, I still love the Graham years despite the defensive style. There's an art to defensive play as well as to attacking play, and back then I used to love the way we made it hard for other teams to score against us. Wish we had some of that defending art to balance out the supposed attacking play we're meant to be playing.

I thought we played some great stuff under GG. Maybe not as slick as Wengerball but we had some damn good players back then who wouldn't look out of place in today's team. Admittedly it wasn't so good towards the end of his tenure but I don't subscribe to the 'boring' Arsenal when George was in charge. Maybe more pragmatic but not boring.

Nothing Wenger has done for the club (as great as it was) will ever top the 26 May 1989 and Michael Thomas for me. The greatest game this club will ever play and George Graham is forever associated with that.

Arsene has given us all a gift this morning. To ensure we don't even begin to get our hopes up for next season or show even the smallest glimmer of excitement, he wants us to know that summer transfer activity will be 'limited'!
http://www.theguardian.com/football/...premier-league You couldn't make it up could you? At this stage I'm beginning to think he's doing nothing more than sticking his middle finger up at the support. Also, if you read the article you will see he has used the excuse many of us already predicted ... it doesn't matter if Spurs finish ahead of us because look how many years he finished above them. This will be the same defence employed the first time he finishes outside the top 4. |

He didn't exactly say it will be limited but his comments don't inspire confidence for next season. If anything it's Groundhog Day with his ready made excuses for every scenario of failure. Master politician of football.

What will be will be but I just hope that next season will be his last.
This season has been a damning indictment. We should have won the league at a canter with the main rivals off the pace. I do believe we had the players to do it, injuries notwithstanding but Wenger has cocked it up royally with team selection, tactics and failing to address the awful defending. This free expression is all very well but players need to be given instructions. Some more than others! |

What a shock, said no one ever. Wenger can never just let the fans be happy. Well least we all know what to expect so no one can be dissapointed. Take last look at top 4 next season could be out last in a while.
Arsene knows, my left foot he does. |

Man City winning means 3 points tomorrow is imperative. We need to finish 3rd.

Don't normally look at the official website but this admission from the manager sums it up for me. It's about his centre backs selection. On the West Ham game he says 'we expected Sakho to start against us' I mean really, come on!. This guy is paid an absolute fortune and he can't even be bothered to find out what the West Ham line up was. Then he chose to do nothing about it at half time. Then he says we have to give Gabriel the chance to develop as a player. In other words, he's pony at the moment but he will come good and I am going to stick by him come hell or high water. Develop as a player!..please...we are not some Sunday pub team. He should be able to play at a decent standard at this level. If he can't then ship him out. It's just a bloody massive ego trip for Wenger. He still wants to do his experimenting with a mixture of budget and youth team players. So we have to wait for Gabriel to develop as a player ffs. Just like we had to wait for Denilson and Sanogo, etc etc. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-arc...ntre-back-pair |

If Wenger can't win the title/CL this season, what makes people believe he'll get it right next season? More to the point he's had years to sort out the defence, it still looks flaky as ever! Can't head the ball, struggle to contain pressure when it matters. Same problems keep cropping up, Wenger won't sign players needed, he'll continue to let others get away with poor performances, we will see flat first halves, and staggering second ones. The game against West Ham last week, 3-0 up against Anderlecht only to draw, 4-4 at Newcastle, the customary bang-average Old Trafford performances, 6-0 against Chelsea, 5-1 against Liverpool.......................he just never learns! ![]() Quote:

What these players would do for a manager who drilled organisation and responsibility! |

From tomorrow they need to boycott the remaing home games and make a stand. |
