St. Arseingham's Day gets closer and closer.
I guess it was always going to happen one day. I just hope our players abd fans do not become small time and only care about being above them.

It's only if city and Liverpool win the two tournaments and finish outside the top 4 does fourth miss out
So forget about Liverpool, what happens purely if Man City win the C.L and finish 5th?

Will 4th still have the play off and the other four go into the groups?

Dare I say it Poch has done a great job.

They remind me of Wenger's early teams that chased United down, scored plenty and looked strong when the season came to an end.
I think the fact they have had no pressure or expectations had helped them. They can just relax and enjoy footie. With the top teams being shite they have took their chance. They have been the best team this season.

Wenger does not know how to get his team to relax. He puts too much pressure on the team and you see the results.

I'm sure the same still applies as in previous seasons - the team in 4th misses out. The only alteration is that if the team who wins the Europa League don't qualify for the Champions League via League position, they enter in to the group stage as essentially a fifth entrant from that league (applying to England, Spain and Germany only as they have the best coefficients).

Tbh i knew from when he said a few weeks ago how "we need to start looking behind us" It was top 4 the main target. He and the players knew the league was gone long time.
The fans have to take some of the blame, not for the performances but for all the nonsense that comes with us, away from the pitch.

After we beat Leicester, there were yet again, hundreds of these "this will be the catalyst" / "this will spur us on" / "this should give them the confidence..."

Has there ever been a more convincing example of a side that do not do catalysts, spurring on, taking positives and confidence. There have been numerous opportunities in the last ten years where any other decent side would have turned their fortunes around with.

Yet it will still happen next year. We'ok string six wins in a row together in January and watch all of the talk start again.

I agree with a lot of this.
Looks like Spurs will finish above us and fair play to 'em, they've done well. It had to happen sometime and could easily have happened a few years back.

I must be small time - the thought of it, plus the possibility of them winning the league makes me want to throw up.

I agree. I just did not want to see out fans behaving like Spuds all these years. I want us to want the team to be the best, not just finish above the rivals.

It happened before, it'll happen again.

You're right about Wenger. He doesn't seem to exude confidence and know how to relax his players like before. Still think the Eduardo injury impacted his planning in ways he couldn't have imagined, up until then he looked on course to win the title with a young, foreign team.

Agreed 110% - I hope we now fail miserably and fail to qualify for the UCL - only then will anything happen...

That was years ago though (awful as it was), why would that still have an effect?
Really liked Eduardo, great player

It was, but that was the last real title race Arsenal were involved. And they imploded. Since then, it's been nightmare after nightmare.

It really won't...he's to proud to admit to failure and who out of the owner or board would sack him? In my opinion the only way he's leaving is of his own accord

If he finished 5th there is a good chance he would walk. He seems to be panicking about not finishing 4th. Maybe its because he may not get his bonus. I just can not see him sitting on the touchline on a thursday night with enthuisam. This would force his hand big time.

City I suspect will finish third though

True, I guess. So does that mean we have to find a new Eduardo?

John Cross from the Mirror on TalkSport - he doesn't think Wenger should be offered a new contract but also says that the amount of criticism, abuse etc he's receiving is a disgrace and that the Tott fans are loving it with our in-fighting. He also reckons that he will see out the final year of his current contract but if things get so toxic between now and the season end that he may just walk, adding he's not immune to the fans feelings despite contrary belief. I guess we would have to miss out on a CL place for him to seriously consider stepping down or not.

Apparently Wenger is more than a bit miffed at the amount of stick he's getting.

This is exactly what I've been saying. Ignore whether or not Kroenke will get rid of him or whether finishing fifth will make him walk. Once the crowd turn on him, his ego and incredibly thin skin will not last long. It's a sad way for him to have to go but neither he nor the club seem set on taking any action otherwise.

If there is any truth in this I'm wondering if there is any chance he will be here next season. This sounds like a man on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Put money on it. It won't be long before stories appear about players wanting to leave.

I'm not sure we should be referencing websites like football365 for rational views on the subject.

Well it's lucky that it's referencing an article in the Telegraph then isn't it?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/...decisions-and/

Better? It won't be of course!

Even that is without source or substance. Just the typical sort of trashy page-filling you'd expect from many football writers.

Like Arsenal players and staff will be giving their opinions to a newspaper hack.

But you obviously want it to be true, so fill your boots.

Arsenal players and staff never talk to reporters?

Wow! Thank you Elyan, I've learnt something here today!

He has been behaving odd for a few years now. Snapping at reporters, Making Silly mistakes, Looking like he does not want to be here. I think he is a man who has been acting like the end is near but his ego will not let go so easily. He knows his time is up, he
just seems to scared of what is next.
