Interesting read. Nice to hear he wants to give something positive to the fans, normally he's hell bent on dismissing us.

Also the possession football thing. It's all very well for the likes of Barcelona etc, but for us it really doesn't work. The Invincibles were a big strong team who played fast paced football with some long quick passing - so why does he continue to persist with a style that doesn't suit us - Barcelona extra light we'll never be! Just sheer vanity on his part.

Things have moved on, Arsene it's time for you to move on too.
Exactly, I'm at the stage now where the only thing I want to see from him is a P45.

He's trying to appease the fans. I hope this doesn't deter fans going to the game on Saturday from protesting for change. Need to strike while the iron is hot otherwise before we know it he will be signing another 3 year contract if he has his way.

Same old, same old. What exactly will change next season? Nothing. It can't change no matter who we sign without a fundamental change of philosophy[hy from the top. We'll be in exactly the same situation this time next year.

Everyone's fit for the weekend. Would be good to have Santi back, we've missed him more than anyone else. We're a different team with him.

You can imagine after the 2-0 win away at Man City, Wenger sitting in a dark room, whipping himself and swearing "never again".

This is a tweet from Arseblog this morning:

Wenger pretty much no holds barred today in his press conference re: aims at former players, 'groups with agendas/egos to manipulate fans'
Again it's everyones fault but his. He genuinely doesn't see anything wrong!

It's beginning. I'm telling you, his ego is not going to take sustained criticism however much it's deserved. Unless the team improves spectacularly over the remaining games and certainly from the very beginning of next this won't be the first or last mini meltdown we see him having.

Doesn't the club also have an Agenda? AW says the club is progressing and moving forwards. Perhaps he can tell us how? We've lost more games, have less points, will win nothing, playing terribly and are below Leicester and Spurs. Where is this progress? what's to look forward too?

How will next season be any better? Just like him to explain this to us. We're progressing because I say so, doesn't cut it I'm afraid. Nothing hateful but just tell us what we have to look forward to.

"This team has character and a good attitude. Some people question that, but they shouldn't. We work together closely and have a good professional attitude. We have to focus on the next game."

Focus on passing it to death, focus on not scoring from corners, focus on not to shoot from outside the area, focus on making the same defensive mistakes and so on.

Focus on increasing the bank balance.

Anyone translate please? "We lost the championship at home against lower teams but we played at home in a very difficult climate. We are top of the league in the top teams, we want to add what is needed.”

And:

We have to realise that, away from home, we are championship winners. At home, against the smaller teams, we lost the league.

Is his suggestion that the home games were played in a 'difficult climate' meant to put the responsibility for the poor performance on the fans rather than on himself or the players?

Honestly, forget the football, watching Arsene have a slow motion car crash at the same time as alienating any remaining support he has will be enough for me.

EDIT: Proof positive he is now full on delusional.

I'll give it a go, I speak bullshit fluently...

I was stupid enough not to realise that teams can suss us out by cheating with things like tactics etc. That sort of behaviour is beneath me, but hey, I'm trousering 8million per year so I'm not losing any sleep over it. We're still on course to win the 4th place trophy and I can guarantee that we'll not lose a game in the Emirates Cup next season!

If the other managers would just allow us 3 points at home to teams like West Ham, Swansea etc, we'd be champions, so that's what I'll be pushing for next year. I also think that the supporters are to blame for not scoring more goals and I feel Giroud's getting a lot of stick as a result. I mean, look at his hair, how an anyone begrudge him a goal or not just applaud him for almost being in the right position nearly always some of the time?

So on top of fourth being a virtual trophy we are now “top of the top teams”, is that another trophy?

He knows what he has said, what appears delusional to us, is calculated to him. It's the usual 'protect players' tactic, by creating a siege mentality. And 'attacking' the home support, nothing new..............

http://www.theguardian.com/football/...premier-league

If he's insinuating the home support is crap, then he has a point. It's as fair-weathered as you can get, the loyal fans have been priced out, but it's never going to be like the Liverpool/United fanbase. The fans aren't going to make noise and motivate the players. The manager should.

Having said that....................you look at the desire from the Spurs/Leicester players and compare that with Arsenal, totally different.

The team has 'character'...........it's just empty words. Saying anything to avoid scrutiny. They have 'character' because they listen to his every word and are loyal, that's all. I'm guessing Petit's comments about Spurs and Leicester being ahead of you and needing to change your sport hit him hard.

Personally I think he's arrogant enough to believe the fans will mellow down come August. Next season is the last throw of the dice (even winning the treble wouldn't convince him to stay put), so I would imagine he'll do everything he can to win a trophy. So any slip ups and failures in the league will be met with intense scrutiny, but it's futile as he'll be gone by 2017.

TBH I took it as meaning the home atmosphere was negative. In which case he has to ask himself why?

It's frankly a mess. He keeps doing the same things over and over..........on the pitch the team haven't come on. You'll get more for your money at the theatre than watching Arsenal at home over a season.

The other thing to take from that is his unwavering loyalty to Kroenke. All of them, the board, Wenger, Ivan.......cut from the same cloth. When Wenger leaves, will they even get the appointment right? And if the next manager has a falling out over transfers, will he walk?

No one takes accountability anymore.

Away from home Leicester would still be championship winners, followed by Spurs in second. I can only laugh now.

Blaming the fans the day before they're planning a protest against him is probably not the smartest thing he has ever done. Think it'll be stepped up a gear now.

Probably ambitious to extend his £500m ranch in Texas!

As someone on another forum put it "he's trying to de-legitamise the protest". I think the worst bit is saying the fans have been manipulated. Cos' the fans are thick and can't think for themselves obviously.

Exactly. I took it as him saying we dont perform well at home but have been better away this season

He is technically correct of course, we have been better away from home. But I don't think you can blame the fans for the home form. If the fans react in a negative way it's because we're watching negative football and things have gone rather stale.

You have to hand it to Wenger though, he definitely has the consistency trophy in the cabinet – even this upside down season where the decent teams are under-performing, and the lesser teams are over-performing, we still manage to stay exactly the same.

It's all become very boring and stale. Nothing he says surprises me anymore - heard it all before and I'm sure it's the same for the players.

Alluding to blaming the fans for the poor home form is petty and disgraceful. He will blame anyone except himself.

I hope the protest on Saturday goes well and gets good media coverage otherwise it will be same old with no change.

When asked about the 'agenda' against him and the team he couldn't explain himself.

The man is delusional. If not he probably feels he is does not deserve any criticism.

We've won the away teams league, the league of the top teams and all but sewn up the 4th place trophy.
The Treble and still the ungrateful swines are protesting.
