This'll vindicate Wenger......."there's' only one" is probably ringing around the ground. But I'll forget about all that until next season - today has been great, lasagne indeed
![]() I think we are lucky to get 2nd. |

Wenger has a habbit of getting out of holes but lets be honest. Coming secound in a season where all the big clubs have flopped. We were 10 points from a side 5000-1 to win the Prem league. Last 16 again in the CL and we won today to a team that had already gone down.
I think we are lucky to get 2nd. Still that's for another day - let's just enjoy yet another St Totts

Agree. We were gash all season, I have absolutely no idea how we finished in 2nd. A get out of jail card for Arsene, not that he needs one as he's untouchable.
Still that's for another day - let's just enjoy yet another St Totts ![]() I haven't stopping laughing yet. I liked the comment from someone on their thread that they 'managed to come third in a two horse race!'. No snide comments from Andy B in our thread tonight I notice .

Fully expect that two year extension to be rushed through in the next few days.

How funny was that?
The general consensus among their fans was, "Disappointing to lose the league to Leicester. But at least we'll finish above Arsenal." Erm... how's that going for you? ![]() In the year that spuds last finished above us: Nick Leeson was arrested in Singapore for his role in the collapse of Barings Bank The Schengen agreement (free cross border travel in Europe) goes into place in some countries. John Major wins his battle to remain as leader of the Conservative Party The O.J Simpson trial. The Bosman Ruling comes into place. Microsoft releases the much awaited Windows 95 Suck it up, losers. ![]() http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...he-league.html |

As good as it is to finish above them, let's not kid ourselves. Our title challenge was pathetic. TH were the ones that pushed Leicester City. We ended up with less points than last season. It's been a bizarre season. Wenger knows it's a massive opportunity missed and I am not sure we will have a better chance for a good while. Plenty of work for the manager in the summer unlike last year!

Well we will lose three midfielders in Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini. My guess is he will replace at least one of those with Jeff Reine-Adelaide. We also have Jon Toral comeing back from a decent loan season at Birmingham, and Danny Crowley from Barnsley - although I don't think he's quite ready yet. Toral definitely is though, and should be given a chance.
Isaac Hayden has had a good year with Hull, and he may be in contention to provide defensive cover. Akpom has also been up there, and had a mixed season. The strangest one has been Gedion Zelalem, who set the Scottish Championship on fire for the first few months of the season, then suffered a slight knock, and has not been able to get anywhere near that form back. He is definitely too immature yet, and should be sent on loan again. Wellington Silva is another who has had an inconsistent season with Bolton, and doesn't look like a top rate player at all at the moment. Same goes for Maitland-Niles, on loan at Ipswich. I think both should be sold. Of the first team players that we have, I'd like to see some shifted out permanently: Szczesny (loose cannon. Not good enough) Oxlaide-Chamberlain (Still no more than a good prospect - at 23. Inconsistent. Injury-prone) Walcott (Not good enough) Campbell (Tries hard. Not good enough) Debuchy (Lost his place. Won't get back in the team) Sanogo (Hasn't worked out. Not good enough) |

Interestingly, Van Der Wiel is now a free agent and he'd be a great option for the RB position, but whether he'd agree to join as 'back up', or risk 'killing off' Bellerin is difficult. As you say, Debuchy would need shifted anyway before ODL will think of getting cover there. It would show ambition though and get us quality back up there and he'd be cheap (in terms of potential transfer fee anyway). Time to show proper ambition and push the boat out for quality signings, ideally one in each central position. They'll all get playing time on account of our busy schedule and terrible injury record anyway. |

very sad to see the end of Arteta and Rosicky as really respect and like them both. Arteta gave a painfully honest interview too in which he said he knew he was no longer good enough for Arsenal so was moving into coaching, and that we should have won the league this season. No excuses etc. Great bloke. As far as I'm concerned, that was his goal not an o.g!
Rosicky was a hell of a player before injury robbed us of him. They are going to be tough to replace, for different reasons. I can't see anyone from the youth set up that is good enough right now. |

Walcott will want out now he's not in the squad for the euro's. Wenger will offload. It's the best for both player and the club. He's never going to be a regular starter under Wenger.

Spurs fans on their pages finding some crumbs of comfort that Arsenal finishing 2nd means Wenger more likely to be offered a new contract. Bless

Wenger says Giroud will be first-choice striker next season. Sigh.

Do you think Theo Walcott has been unlucky to miss out on the England for the Euros, or has he just not been good enough
And do you think Walcott has improved as a player at Arsenal, or has he gone backwards |
