Campbell's no the answer anyway, so we shouldn't be missing him too much. A silver lining may be that we now have 4 first team regulars that have left. I can only guess that there are others to join apart from Xhaka (??). Surely there must be others coming? Surely??
Oh, there will be no doubt about it. Wellbeck's crocked for ages too. The question for me is what level players will we sign? More of the same or more ambitious for a change.

I wished I shared your optimism David

But you're right, no doubt we will end up scrambling to overpay for yet another cast off from one of the other premier league clubs as the season draws closer. Mario Balotelli anyone?

Do you think Arsenal would look at Carlos Bacca? Milan willing to sell and he wants Champions League football.

So, how do you think it's going? So far, we've had quite a few of the aging/experienced 1st team regulars leave, including our captain. We've got one in (ignoring the japanese fella who's not proven and likely to play a bit part at best).

Other teams that we're competing with are strengthening, so it's not really a surprise that people are voicing their concerns.

Last year, we were lucky to a degree that the likes of Man U and Chelsea were off the boil. I suspect that this year the race for the CL spots is much tigher, probably even much much tighter as the pundits would say. The reality is, I feel, that we need to add some genuine quality in order to compete meaningfully.

Seems to be some talk of us re-signing Vermaelen.

I'm feeling very positive and very much looking forward to the new season.

I have every confidence that the manager is doing everything he can to strengthen the squad where it is necessary.

Wouldn't be against that, to be honest. Good player, but will be be fit enough now? He's not played much over the last couple of seasons, I think.

Where do you think we need strengthening? I wish I could share your optimism and I truely hope that I'm wrong and you're right. We'll see in a month or so, but it's obvious that we need quite a few additions...

Wouldn't put it past Wenger.

A complete lack of vision. No plan. Just hope for the best.

How much more of his lack ambition must Arsenal supporters suffer?

Hear hear.

First time I've logged in a for a week. All our rivals bringing in genuine world class talent and the only talk around us is a couple of old crocks returning home for a final pay day from the Wenger gravy train.
And Wenger's biggest fanboy spouting his usual trolling shite as well.

I'm going back to bed.

I would think Leicester would put at least £32 million on him, since kante went for that, would Arsenal pay that much for him?

We would.

I can think of someone who almost certainly won't though.

Wenger has nothing to worry about as we all know the board will support him whatever happens. The real pressure is on Chelsea, City and Man U. All have new high profile managers and the fans and owners will be demanding success. Spuds will probably go backwards and scrape top 6 place.

That's true but the fans won't. If he continues to sit on his backside and we start the season with Walcott as our only fit striker (given the extended breaks given to our Euro 2016 players that's entirely possible) and with a couple of our old players brought back (Vermaelen, seriously?) then I think all hell is likely to break out. I don't care how loyal the board is, once the manager has lost the fans he has to be replaced. I'm not sure his ego would let him stand continued abuse from the stands either.

Unless he suddenly produces a couple of world class players in the next few weeks I think this is his last season. The competition within the league is likely to be considerably higher this year with the new managers and players - and nothing I have seen suggests Arsene and the club are even remotely ready for it. To be honest, with our (lack of) transfer activity at the moment I'd be surprised if he was still in charge at Christmas.

It's like a football version of what's going on in the Labour Party.

You've got it Grim. CL football is a draw for the top players but it's not the be all, end all as some would believe.
