BAU then with Wilshere. A week or two, where have we heard that before!

Think we may have missed a trick missing out on Ashley Williams, A snip at £10M. Looks Everton bound now. Could have done a job and chips in with the odd goal. Fair enough if Wenger has somebody else lined up but we'll see.
You rate Williams !?

I think he's massively overated . He's had his moments over the years but that fee of £10 million says it all tbh . I recall him having a nightmare against Leicester gifting them a goal early doors . He was also very poor for Wales in the Euros , I thought .

From what i've seen, Mustafi is a better defender than Williams, and even though he's double the price we'd get more out of him due to his age. Do you not think if Williams was good enough for a "top" team, he would have been snapped up by one of them by now?
Exactly. . He's probably good in the dressing room but he's the most error prone CB I've ever seem .

See Jack Wilshere is injured again - albeit only for a week or two...

Why is he so injury prone?

Trying to rush back too quickly or due to his style of play?
There was a Physio bloke on TalkSport a few weeks ago talking about Wilshere and he reckons his problems stem from him being so bow-legged which puts untold pressure on all his joints when he's running / jumping / turning ...

Probably CB parternship of Chambers and Holding, no Ozil or Sanchez, Akpom or Theo up front? I'd bite your hand off for a draw now. Anticipating another 8-2-esque humiliation to be honest, followed by a bit of panic spending. from the world's most reactionary manager.
I had high hopes for Chambers , maybe he will take the opportunity to show what a good player he is .

Read on a very reputable football website that Draxler's definitely on his way. He was apparently throwing a wobbly there saying that Wolfsburg promised him that if a good club would make an approach, they'd play ball...
Apparently Wolfsburg have issued a statement saying Draxler isnt going anywhere

Which of course in reality means that they'll sell but that it's going to cost the buying party a great deal. Which in turn means that ODL will end up saying that he tried but the deal wasn't right... Same old Wenger, always pennypinching!

Draxler has a contract until 2020 I believe, meaning they'll only sell for massive money.
Anybody sense a potential problem there?

Not sure he is what we really need anyway.

I think Chambers will always be a liability in the centre. I also don't think Wenger will sign another player (other than those random youth players he signs).

Draxler apparently told the German media that Wolfsburg had promised that they'd cooperate with a move if the right opportunity for him came. Agree that he's not what we're after but he'd certainly add something. Bit like Podolski, who was not used very well by ODL.

Agree, I'd hoped that Bould would be able to sort the defense out, but he's seemingly not doing much work with them...

Wake me up when Arsenal have stopped dithering. Not in talks with any clubs and no bids made according to David Ornstein.

Well there's still just over a week to go. Will we sign anyone before the season starts? It' no secret that Wenger has a real disdain for the current transfer environment but he will get all he deserves if things start to turn ugly. He's had all summer, (okay maybe except during the Euro's) to get new players in and ready for the season ahead.

As for our current lot, as I said before, it's time for the likes of Walcott, Ox-Chamb to start earning their corn. Wilshere as well. I am sick and tired of their injuries and poor form. They can all belt up too about looking forward to the new season with their empty promises. Actions speak louder than words!

And all of the other big clubs are signing players by the dozen?

The whole market is slow.

So we've signed more than Chelsea and Tottenham, the same number as United, and two fewer than Man City.

I'd class only one of the three 'ins' a good signing that will actually be used. Of those who left, you can argue that 3, maybe 4 of those would be classed as 'first teamers', so there's no doubt in my mind that we'll be short, ignoring the fact that we made three 'signings'.

Happy with Holding, but he's unproven and young, pretty much one for the future, Asano will no doubt be healthy for shirt sales in Japan, but is unlikely to play much, certainly not in the Premier League.

As many including me have said, we need three more 'proper' signings in order to compete.

In terms of numbers, yes we've signed 3 but in terms of quality (apart from Xhaka) are the signings up there with the likes of

Chelsea: Michy Batshuayi, N'Golo Kante
Man Utd: Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Tottenham: Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen

All the above signings can be classed as players who would go straight into the starting XI whereas Holding and Asano cannot.

Funny how it is Wenger more than any other manager that continuously barks on about signing quality not quantity.

Don't forget we've released seasoned pros in Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky.

I think he has all but guaranteed that now and, to be honest, and it's probably exactly what's needed. If the attempted signing of Vardy demonstrates he thinks we need a forward why on earth hasn't he got off his backside and found one since that deal fell apart. This is his last season without a shadow of a doubt and I can't see it ending happily for him but, as you say, he has brought it all on himself.

*Waits for one of the few remaining Wenger loyalists to tell me there has been nobody suitable for him to buy*

So panic buys in other words. All the more desirable players will have been bought and we will end up overpaying for for what's left.

That's not a sensible way for any club to run their transfer business however much you might try and defend it.

On his thread you mean? Because it's certainly not the case in the real world, as was shown toward the end of last season when almost the whole stadium was singing his name in the face of the few attention seekers with their banners.

Come on that's untrue and you know it. About 12,000 didn't even turn up and estimates of up to 12,000 of those there were wanting him out. Your absolutely entitled to your opinion but please don't make things up. Armi made exactly the same bogus claim.
