I don't know why anyone's surprised. We won the FA Cup & came 3rd in the PL = therefore we have the quality!
A leopard doesn't change its spots. Man u, Liverpool, City are all adding to their squads. Cech is a great Signing and best gk we've had for years but.... I'd rather keep ospina and go for higuain or benzene. |

Agree that we have to sign, but they have to be the right signings. A DM is a must, a striker would be close 2nd. Get quality in these positions and we'll be right up there.

This is going to be a disappointing transfer window yet again. Whilst others properly strengthen their teams and squads, Arsene makes do and mends. At the very least we need a proper striker - Giroud and the rest don't cut it.

Realistically, Carvalho or Vidal for Dm and Lacazett for striker.

I still think there'll be one more big signing, hopefully a striker.
It's like one bit of success blinds him to what is needed for a whole season. |

Yep, that will do nicely, although I'd throw in Benzema for good measure. He is French as well, after all...
Wenger said the other day the players follow the money these days. So why aren't they coming here when we have the money?! |

Realistically I think spidey is right. We are more likely to get a Lacazette than a Benzema calibre of striker although I'd love to be proven wrong.
Wenger said the other day the players follow the money these days. So why aren't they coming here when we have the money?! The other point you raise is probably because we don't put in the bids, unlike others. We should be able to attract (more) big names, I just feel that ODL is too stubborn to actually do it and is holding us back. Just look at United, they're happy to upgrade on what they have and add to the squad with genuine quality. It's madness that a club like Arsenal that last year we had to depend on a DM that was recalled from Charlton Athletic... |

Wenger always leaves us just a bit short of being able to challenge for the PL. This season will be no exception.
He's reported as saying he might not need to add if Wilshere, Walcott and Arteta are fully fit. He doesn't really seem to think the team can be improved, just the fitness. No more baffling than most of the last 10 years then really. |

Well we don't need to buy a new striker when we have Chuba Akpom.

Carvalho is injured and out for the next 3 months so he can be crossed off the list of possible signings.
So too can Vidal as he looks to be heading to Bayern as their bid of €40m/£28m is accepted. |

Alexis Sánchez says Arsenal underachieved last season
http://www.theguardian.com/football/...rachieve-chile Spot on. This is the type of mentality we need from the players. |

http://www.theguardian.com/football/...rachieve-chile Spot on. This is the type of mentality we need from the players. Benzema rumours have been copied and pasted into today's papers yet again... Could do with him and wouldn't say no though... A (D)M is probably unlikely now, with Carvalho injured for a while still, and Vidal apparently making a move to Bayern Munchen (for £28million, which should be well within the Arsenal budget...). Don't see much point adding for the sake of it, so we'll just have to wait until January and see where we are then. We'll be relying on Coquelin, Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky to stay fit but with these four, it's going to be tight... The last three are getting on a bit, and Coq's still a bit rash. |

Surely he HAS to, the backlash is growing I think, he needs to be v careful.
Man u, Liverpool, City are all adding to their squads. We've got tickets for the Charity Shield, or whatever it's called nowadays - will be good to see Cech in action - if Wenger plays him that is. |

The definition of madness is doing the same things over again and expecting a different result. This is what Arsene Wenger has been doing for at least the last 5 or 6 years.

Remember, we pay in £££££ and not €, so if you are looking to pull in signings from Europe your best bet is to strengthen your squad in August when the currency markets traditionally go slack, if you paid top prices for players a month ago (Mephis to Man U) you got shafted.

And a good save from Cech. I still wince every time Jack goes down.

First trophy of the new season.
I'm a tad bit pleased about that. |

It's necessary to be a tad bit pleased sometimes, I would say!

Thierry thinks we need 4 more signings to compete for the title:
