Wenger now comes out & says that Arsenal want to spend money. That's great, now. What about when the season ended? What about when the transfer market opened?
All the decent players have moved on or signed new contracts with their clubs. I feel for any fan who pays over £2,000 for a season ticket every season at Arsenal. Something has to change. |

He just says what he thinks people want to hear. Sadly I think the number believing him is less than it's ever been. He'll be out by the end of the season. |

Listening to AW was interesting “we are ready to spend the money we have got, we won’t spend the money we haven’t got. Anyway it’s not my money”.
Probably reading way too much in to this but, who quantifies and defines how much we have got? Saying “it’s not my money”, is that a veiled reference to money being held back from him or just a joke? As I say reading too much in to it I reckon but I’d love to know for sure. |

Think that's just a typical Wengerism David. He treats it as if it's his own money.
Anyway we have been told now. He's not afraid to spend and that he's overseen 400 transfers. Hurrah! |

I thought the same thing, if it's not his money, he shouldnt be the one to dictate where it goes.
Why didn't he spend the money last season then before Brexit and the tv money coming in so European clubs wouldn't demand more from richer English clubs in this transfer window. |

The other thing is with OGL is that he sees it as an admission of failure I think buying new players. He is so loyal to the current crop that it would be deemed a weakness to add to the squad. That's why he keeps referring to the players he already has showing spirit, quality etc etc.

A lot of stuff here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/...-live-updates/
Wellbeck four months ahead of schedule apparently. Not sure he's the answer to our lack of goals though. Hard working player who gives his all but I'm not sure he will ever be prolific. |

I would encourage fans to steer well clear from the Emirates, but ultimately it would do little good as the club already have taken in season ticket money and the new TV deal will soften any short term 'blow'.
Why have the board allowed him to potentially f up another season? I have always had the impression from him that he is very loyal to his employers. It's why he has always honoured contracts. And while they all sit counting their money and licking Kroenke's arse in the panelled boardroom, they're quite happy for Wenger to face the media. Whether you are for or against Wenger; - whether he's being given money to spend and he's not spending it, or he's not being given enough to compete - the buck stops firmly with the board. But they won't do anything because these days they are no more than employees. In the past the board was made up of major shareholders who were proper Arsenal fans. |

I thought it was a good summary of what many are genuinely fed up about without any vitriol.

I am just utterly bored of the same things happening season after season. Both the club and Wenger have become too cosy now. There's no pressure on him and it's reflected in his management. There's no hunger. The ambition has been slowly sucked out.
Wenger is on the gravy train so he's been more than happy to remain 'loyal'. He calls the shots. There's no other club that would have indulged him like this one. No wonder retirement scares him. Him staying on beyond this season scares me more! |

When Arsene leaves a lot of rebuilding need to be done because everything is so stale. |

Matt Scott's Twitter feed is an interesting read. Insinuates that Kroenke isn't exactly being truthful about funds being available and he wouldn't hire a manager who wants to spend big. The boardroom politics are more exciting that what goes on the pitch. How many directors really want Wenger to stay? Why is there a transfer budget in place? Who would Stan want as the next manager? Wenger leaving will solve the short-term issues, but as the poster above says a lot of rebuilding will be required. |

It's crazy that we've not spent like the other clubs this year. You just need to look at our spending over the last two seasons to see we're not spending what is coming in.
Last year, 24.91m spent. This year 44.2m spent. Not even the cost of Pogba. The TV money is guaranteed for this year, it should've been spent improving the squad asap. I fear a big defeat tomorrow. Club is sadly going backwards. Perhaps a defeat will make him move as he did after the 8-2, sadly he'll be spending money that another manager could've spent better before the start of the season. |

Who knows what'll happen with Leicester this season, maybe they won't do so well this time around, but what it did do was to show they had a manager who did the best with the team he had at hand by playing to his their strengths - which I don't think Wenger does. I've said time and again, maybe a few tweaks here and there and if we got our injury situation under control, we do have a team more than capable of winning the league, so I don't think we do really need to spend big, we just need a good manager with fresh ideas. Maybe this season will be the one when the shit really hits the fan? FWIW, I don't think we'll make top 4, the competition is fierce now with the quality teams and managers we're going to have to compete with. That'll be the only way, plus fans voting with their feet that they'll ever even contemplate Arsene's position. |

A giant club like arsenal along with the new TV deal - where IS all that money? Is it sitting in a bank somewhere?

Ok, say Arsenal got rid of Wenger tomorrow. Who is available to take over & take the club forward? Sometimes it's better the devil you know.

Joel Campbell to go out on loan to Sporting Lisbon for the season.
His FIFTH loan since he has been with us. Utterly pointless dithering from Wenger yet again- he's nearly 25 for god's sake. I like him and would much rather have him around the squad than somebody like Walnutt, but it's obvious he's never going to make it with us so just get rid! |
