probably won't happen. Valencia holding out for more as no time for them to source a replacement.
Wenger's put the £1 into the trolley as we speak (refundable of course) ![]() I've never gone into a season caring less. At least I'll save some money I suppose. |

Bottom line is Wenger wouldn't have gone in for a CB if Gabriel and Per didn't get injured.
As for that 'world class' CF........Welbeck will 'return' during the Christmas period, so he'll be the new signing in January. Wenger sacrified five points to save money. Why is he allowed to get away with dilly-dallying?? |

This isn't going to end well. I think there will be a lot of recriminations.

Wenger admitting he was in for Mustafi was a shock, he never does it. So i am guessing it will either be a deadline day signing as they need the money and know we need the player. Guess with Mustafi being injured Aw is trying to play on it. |

![]() One of the best answers I've seen on here! Always looking over our shoulder while they should be more interested in their own club. |

He keeps saying "if we had the money he wouldn't be afraid to spend". Mentioned it several times in the post match presser.
2 questions; 1. Why don't we have the money 2. Is he indirectly saying he isn't being given the money to spend? Alot more is happening behind the scenes than meets the eye I reckon. Still disgraceful how he mentioned having to pay the 600 employees yet the fans are paying the most expensive ticket prices in the world and he is earning millions a year. I see his post match comments about transfers has been removed from the Arsenal website. ![]() Quote:
If Valencia are demanding £50m for Mustafi they can shove it up their arse.

Well West Brom want 25 mill for Evans, who is not worth 10. You can not make it up. We are the laughing stock of football at the min. Clubs can see our hand and know they hold all the cards.

The club should get right behind the manager in the coming days to get him the players he wants.

Does he actually know who he wants though? And if he does I have little confidence they'll be good for the club. I dread to think of the salary we are paying Sanogo, a player Ronald De Boer claimed had 'no useful qualities' while he was on loan at Ajax.

I do not believe if Wenger identified targets at the start, he would have been told no. I just don't believe it. |

right now, I'd rather be sure Wenger's leaving and sign no players this transfer window, leaving cash options for a new manager next season.
Mustafi isn't injured; he played the 2nd half last night. £41m is too much for him but it wouldn't have been that much if not left to the last minute. Jonny Evans?! On a long contract so we can't get rid....... Back in the real world, I expect Wenger to get a new, improved deal from Stan any time soon.

I have no idea if it is age, ego or simply arrogance but nowhere else would this appalling mismanagement be allowed to continue. |

Despite my criticisms of the arsenal board there is no reason or evidence to suggest they do anything other then support the manager in getting the players he wants.
Can't say I'm to optimistic about getting any business done as it seems all the potential targets have either moved (Higuaín) or chosen to stay where they are (Vardy, Mahrez, lacazette) The centre back issue is frustrating as it was important to improve that area even before the injuries started. No idea whether this Mustafi is any good or not and according to arsenalfantv it looks like that deal could be off as well unless we pay a ludicrous fee for him. |

All of this dithering and reluctance to spend is his way of seeing out the final year of his contract without a big to do I think. I mean if he is so sure of his abilities as a manager then why hasn't he signed on for another 2 years or whatever it's suppose to be? Say he had agreed to stay on beyond this season then that would have been another 3 seasons at least and he could have had a major clear out and got rid of the usual under achievers and injury prone players and really made a concerted effort to challenge for the major honours. A new lease of life if you like. Instead it's like he's going through the motions of it all just to keep his 'I never break my contract' mantra intact and trousering the best of £8M. Let somebody else deal with it all when they take over is probably what's he been thinking.
The club should have known not long after last season ended what his intentions are to make preparations one way or the other. Nobody the hell knows what is going on. No other club would indulge a manager like this club has. A shambles and a disgrace all of it. |

And now I see we're being linked with Phil Jones!
I sometimes think we're just the victims of an elaborate practical joke. Arsenal linked to an injury plagued central defender. Mourinho wouldn't stop laughing if he got that deal done. I despair sometimes. |

apparently some new book written (?!) by Alan Curbishley is out. Wenger's interviewed about how terrified he is of retirement. He has no life outside football, by his own admission.
We all know what this means ![]() I'm convinced he could survive anything other than losing money for Stan, no matter how much pressure he's under from fans and the media. |

Wenger won't go out of his own free will.
Either he doesn't get offered a new contract or he gets sacked. Reckon it will be the former option as a gratitude for his past successes with the club and transfer funds are being held back for the new manager to spend on the players he wants. |

He will deffo go, this season. The fact he states the players will decided his future says the board have warned him more or less. All this scared of retirement stuff, is not that of a manager who knows he will be here longer. As you say maybe he does not want to spend to give his successor all the cash and help he needs etc. Wenger seems to be past caring about winning the league and knows he probs can not, hence his reluctants to spend. |

And in the book he says he treats the clubs money as if its his own because he's terrified of mistakes, or so I read in article.
I'm not confident that this is his last season. I still see him as the perfect manager for Stan's limited investment and ambitions. Q is whether Ozil and Sanchez will leave - depends on who offers them what I suppose. Sanchez has won most things (Chile prob not going to win a World Cup) but Ozil's never won the CL. |
